@pomarede I just played with the the non-Bayered file. It was not an attempt to calibrate or replicate the true colour, but just to highlight the terrain. I simply adjusted the Brightness, Contrast, Gamma brightness and sharpened it a little at the end, no science or repeatable method as many versions were binned before I got that one :)
There was so much amazing beauty in last weekend's aurora. Also some cool science. I believe the curved lines in the green aurora on the right hand side of this all sky image are called "auroral dunes" and are a rare phenomenon. #aurora#dunes#NewZealand
More #Strandbeests from conceptual artist-engineer Theo Jansen. He became obsessed with designing moveable sculptures that might help conserve beach dunes, then says the project got completely out of hand from there. And it's wonderful.

#ThrowbackThursday to September 2014 and a peaceful wander in the sand dunes, when monsoon clouds helped to keep the temperatures tolerable. A strong wind blew fine sand over the ridges. I love the subtle tones and colors of this moment.
On this day in 1933, White Sands was established as a National Monument (it is now a National Park, re-designated in 2019).
Depending on the time of day and weather, the reflective gypsum crystals of the dunes appear to be beige, pure white, cool blue... we couldn't get enough of it during our 2019 road trip in March. :) (blog archive: https://www.alex-kunz.com/tag/road-trip-march-2019/)
