It's really cool to see people talking about New Caledonia on here.

I know I harp on PI representation a lot, but the erasure of Black Pacific Islanders (which indigenous Kanaks are) are marginalized even within our own community.

@sipi FYI : troubles in New Caledonia is not a white vs black fight. And trying to turn it as such is a or misconception or disinformation about what's happening out there.

The white/european are only 25% of the New Caledonia population.
The Pacific Islanders and Asians are 35%
The Kanak local population 40%.

In spite of that and of a special selected electoral college, defavorising the white/european since none of newcomers after 1998 could vote, 3 referendums had rejected independence.

That's the reason why we know that nothing is secret or hidden there and every plot or shady made up theory is false.

FWIW:

  • Reunion island, Mayotte, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Guyane are totally french, therefore totally european, the EU consider them as Outermost regions (with โ‚ฌuro currency and european citizenship)

  • Saint-Pierre, Saint-Martin, Saint-Barth, French Polynesia, Wallis & Futuna are widely autonomous, as well as New Caledonia which has a little bit more autonomy than the others. The EU consider them as Overseas territories, depending of european member states but not part of the EU.

Paris has sent the first unit of up to 100 Foreign Legion soldiers to Ukraine, writes the Asia Times, citing former assistant US Deputy Secretary of Defense Stephen Bryan.

According to the publication, France plans to send a total of 1.5 thousand fighters to support the AFU troops.

AT claims that Foreign Legion soldiers are stationed in Slavyansk.

Among other things, artillery and reconnaissance specialists have arrived. The officers are French citizens. The rest of the group are foreigners from all over the world. An official confirmation is still pending
