Two bronze-coated metal eight-sided #dice marked, one in red, one in blue, with the names of the eight #trigrams of #Daoism. Also present is a six-sided die marked in #Chinese characters in both red and blue. By pairing the dice in two colours all 64 #hexagrams of the #Yijing can be thrown in a modern form of consulting that ancient oracle. The six-sided die is used to select the "moving" line.
🌟 Celebrating the Birthdays of the Gods 🌟
In ancient Egypt, the final five days of the year were celebrated as the Birthdays of five of their major deities: Osiris, Horus, Seth, Isis and Nephthys.

I'm Layne, resident late 20s transmasc goth / metalhead hybrid from Germany, queer as heck, disabled and ND in various ways. Library assistant by day, utter nerd ... actually not by night but 24/7. I love ttrpgs, video games, space, science and bunnies.
What can I say? I'm obsessed with #dice, almost as much as I am with #PlayingCards. #RPG (#TTRPG) have been such a huge part of my life since 1977 that, naturally, I have a good, healthy appreciation for quality dice. But more than that, I'm fascinated by randomness and the various tools humans have used for thousands of years both to generate, and often simultaneously tame, stochastic processes.
Hence cards and dice.

Another day, another calabash charm. This one, however, comes with a twist.
It's very similar to the brass one I last posted¹, but this time it's better for my intended purpose. Because this one is intended to be an emergency supply for some important components I bought.
The pill-box keychain filled with pill-sized dice is going to be on my person all the time. And for "formal occasions" (like gaming conventions) the pendant filled with them will be around my neck and ready for action.
We've very recently started playing Railroad Ink: Deep Blue Edition, and love it. Grab four dice (or 6 if you're playing with one of the two included mini-expansions), roll them, and draw the symbols into your grid following certain rules. 7 Rounds to get the best score you can 😊 The games are quick to play and it's a nice little puzzle to have with a coffee or in our case, over breakfast.
Game Name: Railroad Ink: Deep Blue Edition
Release Date: 2018
Number of Players: 1 - 6
Designer: Hjalmar Hach, Lorenzo Silva
Artists: Marta Tranquilli
Publisher: Horrible Guild

Aaahhhhh my nerdy little heart is happy with this stuff.
Having my dice send requests to @homeassistant is an absolutely bonkers thing to do. But it's so fun and the Rube Goldberg machine of tech keeps going!
This was a fun lesson in many things! Ignore the awful UX.
The Characters, Dice and Dice Faces are resources.
The dice face resources build TWO layered 'texture' via a shader based on values they contain, 1 canvas and 1 spatial.
These material are saved on the resource.
The Die resource can be updated with new faces, and since the Die preview and 'builder' pieces refer to the same Die Resource, they both update (with some signal magic).
