"In patriarchal societies where #masculinity is coded as #power and control, men often try to get closer to women through power and control. The range of how this plays out is vast. It could be inconsequential, or it could end a woman’s life. This (...) may also be a reason why so many women in the “Man or Bear” debate chose the bear."
I recommend every man to read this piece by long-distance #cyclist Laura Killingbeck.
We recently concluded the preprint "Cohesive urban bicycle infrastructure design through optimal transport routing in multilayer networks" https://arxiv.org/abs/2405.02052
with A. Lonardi & C. De Bacco. We focus on #copenhagen as it is a great example for the annoying phenomenon of #cyclist congestion - too little space for all those people!
Those eligible would have to pre-register at counters in Pengkalan Raja Tun Uda on the island or Pangkalan Sultan Abdul Halim on the mainland with their #MyKad and OKU cards issued by the #SocialWelfare Department
“V2X connects vehicles to everything, though, this #technology can do much more than just protect #drivers. Like a #digital seatbelt for the 21st century, V2X-enabled #bikes can provide critical protection for their riders by prompting V2X #cars to display a warning right in front of the driver when a #cyclist is about to cross their path”
“anonymized #data can be shared with #cities to help plan new #bike and #pedestrian#infrastructure”
Just pointing out the inconsistencies to municipal snow clearing approaches across Ontario. It's critical to reframe the discussion to ensure we decrease the number of people that have to take their lives into their own hands just to commute, exercise, live, run errands, etc. #onpoli#ontario#cyclist
Hard as it may be to believe, since April SSE's #windfarms have been under-performning by around a fifth in the #energy fed into the national grid.
The claim is that 'adverse weather conditions' reduced their ability to generate #windpower... by which I assume they mean not windy enough?
Of course, we cannot know how realistic or otherwise their projections were (they may have been hyped for #investment purposes?), but as a #cyclist in the NW, let me tell you its been windy enough here!
I know drivers can be dicks when it comes to cyclists, but when you see a #cyclist with two GoPros strapped to his helmet, it's then entirely unsurprising to see him lecturing a taxi driver two minutes later.
Hand cyclist Kevin Mills is the first quadriplegic person to cycle 8,400 km across Canada, coast-to-coast, from Cape Spear Lighthouse in Newfoundland to Victoria’s Ogden Point Breakwater Lighthouse.
