Those eligible would have to pre-register at counters in Pengkalan Raja Tun Uda on the island or Pangkalan Sultan Abdul Halim on the mainland with their #MyKad and OKU cards issued by the #SocialWelfare Department
I was stuck in this hotel room in quarantine for 10 days. I spent the time reading and photographing the ever changing light and sea off the coast of #Penang (west coast of #Malaysia).
A planned Sun Yat Sen museum will open later this year in Penang, Malaysia
Many important East and South Asian revolutionaries had extended visits to Southeast Asia to shore up support and money from the local Chinese and Indian populations respectively (many of whom did not receive Malayan or Singaporean or Indonesian citizenship until after independence so they were often still citizens of China and India, even if they’d never been)
When I moved to Selangor, I always got my orders wrong because Penang's Hokkien mee is SO NOT Selangor's Hokkien mee lol.
The disappointment I have each time prawn noodles become black noodles lol
There were protests of "Why an LRT, why not something else?" when the Penang LRT project was announced.
Still, a good public transportation system would help #Penang grow & hopefully ease its ever-present gridlock. I look fwd to taking the LRT from the airport to Komtar ;)
However, please don't ignore #firstmile issues. No point having fancy LRT stations without car parks or any connectivity from them!
Dear #Malaysia, I know you want to bring the LRT to #Penang. I think it is a good idea but of course not in Georgetown itself. But how about trams? Please ignore the people who complain they need to drive on the roads. Trams could bring so much value, business and beauty to Georgetown!!
Ps: we used to have trams I Penang until they were displaced by, what else, cars.
Spent yesterday in Georgetown’s oldest quarter, elevated to a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. It has a genuine oriental feel & has since been well preserved.
Many of the merchant houses & palaces have been renovated, lots of art galleries has opened as well as cafes, bars, restaurants & hotels. The jetties is something that has to be on the list to visit. A mix of local residents & small stalls out on the water. Perfect location for sunset lovers.
Bha mi nam shuidhe air being nuair a chluinn mi faram dhuilleagan seargta* air mo chùlaibh. Thionndaidh mi 's chunnaic an dearc-làidir sreap craobh. Chan eil iadsan beag. Tha an coimhearsnachd mu chuirt an seo glè inntinneach agus beò-ghlacmhor
With the new ferry, the operation on the #island side will shift from Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (#SPCT) back to Pangkalan Raja Tun Uda (#PRTU).
To celebrate the start of the operation of new ferry, #freeticket will be given to all Penang ferry users, Malaysians and non-Malaysians alike, for a month from 7 August to 6 September.
The Ministry of Transport (#MOT) intends to make the Swettenham Pier Cruise Terminal (#SPCT) as the home port for the #cruise industry in an effort to bring more tourists to #Penang.
Under the MOT, the plan is to implement #Fly & Cruise in Penang where SPCT will be used as a #homeport while the Penang International #Airport (#PIA) will be upgraded to allow more tourists to visit the state.
Malayan Railways (#KTMB) is providing additional #trains in conjunction with 2023 State Elections (#PRN) and School Holidays.
Two additional Electric Train Service (#ETS) are provided from 11 August to 13 August for the #StateElections (which will take place on 12 August in the states of Selangor, Kelantan, Terengganu, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah and Penang) and from 25 August to 3 September for #SchoolHolidays.
The addition of the trains are due to the expected significant increase in the volume of people who will use it to return to #hometown to vote for their #states, particularly those from #Kedah and #Penang.
This is because a lot of people from those states living in Klang Valley are unable to change their #voting#address, because the place they're living at is not a #permanent place, while voting address in Malaysia must always match permanent address as written on #identification card.
