Ordered two new cycling helmets, one for road (Giant Rev Comp MIPS) and one for #MTB (Specialized Tactic 4). Got a really good deal on the latter, too 🤩
I just implemented a script that implements a generic "throttle" service that I can use to throttle an automation that handles dynamic events (so I can't use mode: single with a delay).
I’m on that "I just got a 3D printer and now I'm using it for everything" streak, so I just printed a holder for my #ESPHome powered water meter sensor.
@miona a pet peeve of my wife: why do skirts almost never come with pockets 😡 When she makes her own, they always have (she’s sometimes goes as far as adding pockets to skirts she buys) 👍🏻
I really like #Shapr3D as a modelling tool, but it goes from Basic ($0) to Pro ($299/year ex tax) with nothing in between 😩 I don't need AR, technical drawings or priority technical support, I just like the modeller.
@Andrew so far I've tried Fusion 360 (slow, even though I'm running it on modern hardware, and possibly overkill), SelfCAD (meh), FreeCAD (I don't have an engineering degree, and it seems buggy), TinkerCAD (okay-ish but limited), Blender (not immediately intuitive) and Shapr3D (fast, intuitive, but like you I'm also not a fan of subscription pricing).
@Andrew I really like Plasticity so far! It took a bit of time to find out how to get it working with my Magic Mouse, but now that I got that working it's pretty intuitive 👍🏻
I (finally!) ordered my very first 3D printer: an Anycubic Kobra 2.
Some things I want to print with it: a modified wall mount for my Reolink doorbell camera, volume spacers for both my Fox 34 fork and my Fox DPS shock, and an AirTag plug for my fork (🤫).
Taking a look at Pyscript (“Python Scripting for #HomeAssistant”).
Even though I prefer using YAML over the UI for automations in HA, I think I prefer being able to use an actual programming language even more 🤓
With YAML, you have to go back to the web interface to reload automations for changes to become effective (major PITA, why is this still necessary!?), whereas with Pyscript, your scripts automatically get reloaded when you change them.
Plus I much prefer programming over templating. I was jumping through hoops to make a rather complex automation and it required either a lot of convoluted templating ór a lot of duplication. Both not great for maintainability or my future self.
@peturdainn I've looked at Node-RED a few times but for some reason it never floated my boat. But now that I'm contemplating moving to a different automation platform it might be a good time to take a closer look at it again, I do prefer JS over Python 😄
