Having a paid subscription for a weather app and being able to see the forecast comparison between GFS, ECMWF, ICON-D2, ICON-EU, Meteoblue, AROME, and when I'm just slightly further west UKV, and how they never agree on anything, has not been the planning help I thought it would be.

Though ICON-D2 seems to be the most likely for Berlin; are historic comparisons between models and reality anywhere?

The new app is getting even worse! After the last update, the local Music Library takes like 5 seconds after launch to even appear, and then AFTER YOU PLAY SOMETHING, IT DISAPPEARS ALTOGETHER.

I (emphasize on:) tried to see if #ChatGPT4o could possibly be helpful at an annoying kitchen task - converting US recipes to measurements I understand.
The initial conversion left me a bit confused - it had 2/3 and 1/3 cups of honey, so surely, there should be a 2x relationship after the conversion?

Turns out you can't trust this confidence scam for anything.

@xbezdick Pulling the "right" answer from the statistical weights shouldn't have been impossible. And they could "do math" (which one was it that created a python script with the inputs and ran it in the background and then re-incorporated the output?, similar to me using a calculator).

I also don't understand why people trust them. They're shoved into everything with no regard for limitations.

I thought using what should be a trivial example might drive the point home for some.

@mene Yeah, though this should be a common enough question that it could pull it from the text corpus.

Plus, some have started "doing math" by "formulating" python code and then reincorporating the answer.

But the way how it does get it right when prompted explicitly and starts apologizing, it does remind me of a polite mansplainer.

@xahteiwi @isotopp Jedes - wie von Florian beschrieben - korrekt zubereitete Schnitzel ist ein gutes Schnitzel.

Der Haarspalter in mir besteht dann aber auch drauf dass es korrekt bezeichnet wird.

Getunkt wird nicht, ich möchte aber neben dem Zitronensaft auch die Option einer Misoschmaltzmayo ins Spiel bringen.

@netzpolitik_feed Ich bin ja absolut pro Asyl, sicherer Migration, Fluchthilfe, Zuwanderung, Schutz, Aufnahme mit offenen Armen und Integration.

Das "Kirchenasyl" als völlig schwammiges selbsteingeräumtes Privileg vor allem der beiden "großen" Kirchen sehe ich aber genauso kritisch wie deren eigenes Arbeitsrecht und ihre sonstigen Sonderrechte. Das hat in einem säkularen Land nichts verloren und ist nur eine weitere Form von Willkür.

@psy @scy Nein, die Zeitumstellung ist auch global nicht sinnvoll.

Der befestigte Deckel hingegen durchaus schon. Das erinnert mich ehrlich gesagt extrem an den sehr ähnlichen "Konflikt" in meiner Kindheit, als das mit den Laschen von Getränkedosen passierte, damals gab es auch einen riesigen Aufstand.

... wann saht ihr so eine das letzte Mal rumfliegen? Genau.

I agree they shouldn't need to exist, but the realities of how many many an organization manages their IT necessitates their existence.

I am not exaggerating this:

I created a new hostname in DNS, then added it to my existing webserver config.

It was online for 3 seconds -- 3! -- before getting a 404 request for /.git/config.

If you're relying on obscurity to protect your services, get that right out your fool head today. You have about 3 seconds to get your act together.
