Want to help promote more school kids walking and riding to school?

The Conejo Coalition for Youth & Families – AFAIK the only TO agency to encompass the city, CRPD, and CVUSD – meets Tuesday to discuss how to support “Walk’n’Roll,” a citywide volunteer effort.

Public attendance and comments are welcome. We meet Tuesday at 10 am at CRPD headquarters, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive.

New to road riding. Had some questions.

Recently got a '14 Trek Domane and have been racking up the miles. I found a group nearby that does 50 mile rides most Saturday mornings and states 14-16mph. What speed should be able to maintain on my own to not get dropped?

"Researchers found that... Strava's heatmap feature, which was introduced to 'anonymously aggregate users' outdoor activity (#running, #cycling, etc.) to help identify common trails and #exercise hotspots...[and]... provide a 'social' aspect to physical activity, can be 'de-anonymized' to identify people's home addresses... with a 37.5% accuracy rate."

TIL it's actually possible to have bicycle chain gears that aren't greasy or dirty, with wax-based lubricants. Since I don't enjoy doing maintenance it sounds like, reading random reviews, that maybe Smoove is the way to go, but if anyone on #BikeTooter has other suggestions I'd love to hear them.
