Today I learned that LEGO has a program where you can send them your old LEGO (bricks, pieces, mini-figs, etc). LEGO will then take them in, wash / sterilize them, and donate them to children in need!
To all the wonderful people that take the time to post about their day, to those that put up pictures and interesting things, boost and favourite things. Or those that reply to other people's posts in a pleasant and caring way. Thank you.
Please don't ever turn into that other place. You are all so kind on here. Stay that way. You are a bunch of awesome people and we all need to hear that.
I shouldn't be surprised by now. This is #Mastodon after all.
I just got emails that sure looked like official messages from my bank saying I'd added a Zelle recipient and sent him a bunch of money.
Of course I didn't click on any of the links; I just went to my bank's website and checked my accounts, and everything is fine. Also: The Zelle messages referenced an account ending in four digits which match none of my bank accounts.
So a warning that fake messages like this are circulating.
Well..just realized that it was 50 years ago today that I started working for the company I gave my life to, steelcase, and spent 28 years working for just to have them discard me like a piece of trash at 48 when they fired everyone over 40....and they got away with it with how poor the labor laws are here in the US...and I never worked in another good job until I retired at 65....age discrimination is a real thing here...or is it just greed? #today

As a general PSA, this is the very thing I fight against every single working day of my life. An acquaintance of mine is an older lady, this popped up on her screen. She sent me this snapshot in a panic. For her, considering everything, I told her to simply turn off the machine without shutdown. Wait ten seconds and turn it back on. She’s all set, but these scams are getting disturbingly high quality. #hack#scam#malware#Windows#today
Good morning! Happy Thanksgiving Day to everyone in the U.S. No matter where you live or how you spend the day, I hope you can take a moment to consider the things you are thankful for.
One of the things I am thankful for is this site. I have found a community of gentle, intelligent people. You have renewed my faith in the basic goodness of regular people, + I have made connections I didn't know I was missing. So, thank you.
Got off the bus 1 stop early by mistake. Got to witness a speeding car fail to brake for the red light, barely miss the bus & wind up colliding with the pole where I would have normally gotten off.
#Today I am posting a gentle reminder for those of you who post #photographs on the Fedeverse to please add #AltText, and also a huge thank you to those of you who already do so.
TIL “Pull Yourself Up By Your Bootstraps” was originally meant sarcastically, or to suggest an impossible accomplishment, because it is impossible for someone to pull themselves up by their bootstraps. (uselessetymology.com)
TIL about the Puss Caterpillar, it may look harmless with its soft and furry appearance, but it conceals venomous spines that can cause excruciating pain upon contact that even morphine struggles to quell. (en.wikipedia.org)
