📢 The EU Parliament will not be moving forward with chat control! The indiscriminate mass surveillance measures have been removed and secure end-to-end encryption will not be compromised! 🥳
Yes! Amazing news! The EU Parliament just voted through the EU Nature Restoration Law, which aims to restore our badly degraded ecosystems. The law will set legally binding targets for nature restoration in member states.
Next stop, writing it into law at a country level.
Suck it European People's Party, suck it European Conservatives. Some of us actually want #biodiversity.
I was one of the backers of the #InsideTheBox kickstarters for #SubTerraII (and other things), whose failed promises are now being delivered by #NaylorGames through #GameFound.
I think I got an email about the package finally being delivered (it's from ZATU, which my understanding is the #boardgame distributor through which the pledge is being fulfilled).
This is #goodNews.
Hello, #Fediverse friends! Just got some wonderful news and wanted to share it with someone, and who better than you all. A dear friend who has been ill for a while has overcome their illness. We'll reunite tomorrow to celebrate together, but I'm bursting with joy already. Life has a way of bringing good news just when we need it most. #GoodNews#Celebration#Grateful

BREAKING: in fantastic news for life everywhere, the EU Nature Restoration Law was passed this morning.
Restoring the natural systems on which we live is the only logical action to take for anyone who wants human civilisation to continue. It’s also the logical option for the economy:
“The European Commission estimates that restoring natural environments would generate around €1,860 billion, at an estimated cost of just €154 billion.”
What if an algorithmic timeline can actually be used for good, rather than for targeting people with ads, or changing their political stance? Will this even work?
We don't know, which is why we are giving it a try. We have taught an algo to pick #goodnews and #positivenews from our growing selection of blogs and podcasts on @feedle.
It is far from perfect, but we want to share it with everybody we know and make your day a little brighter.
"Accessing abortion services in Finland is set to become easier from 1 September as a long-awaited law reform comes into effect.
Finland's Parliament voted in October last year to update the country's 50-year-old legislation on abortion, facilitating better access to the procedure. The reform was passed by a margin of 125-41.
A press release from the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health noted the necessity of these amendments in safeguarding a pregnant woman's right to self-determination."
"Under the new law, women will no longer be required to provide reasons for terminating a pregnancy within the first 12 weeks. Their personal choice will be sufficient to obtain a referral."
A well-meaning rescuer brought what they thought was a baby hedgehog to a wildlife hospital in Cheshire, U.K., only to be told it was the pompom from a hat. Here's the sweet story from the BBC.
"Last week, The Ocean Cleanup organization that has been tackling the Great Pacific Garbage Patch deployed their System 03 for the first time—nearly three times larger than the previous technology and capable of cleaning the area of a football field every five seconds.
This follows testing of their two smaller systems which succeeded in extracted over 275 tons of plastic from the Garbage Patch since 2021.
The arrival of System 03 marks a huge leap forward for the Dutch CEO Boyan Slat and his team, and their mission of ridding the oceans of at least 90% of the plastic trash by 2040.
System 03 consists of a floating barrier approximately 1.4 miles (2.2 km) long, which is towed between two slow-moving vessels. This barrier suspends a screen extending 13 feet (4 meters) below the surface of the water, where most floating plastic is encountered."
Letzterer ist im Vergleich zu 2019 verdoppelt worden!

Deutschlands Niedriglohnsektor schrumpft deutlich:
