#PeerTube is a type of Fediverse server for hosting video and audio. It's free open source software, so anyone can set up their own server (just like Mastodon).
Because anyone can start their own server, it's extra-important that there are safe ways to discover and search nice videos on PeerTube.
I've tried to create a safe PeerTube search/discovery service at:
@feditips As far as I know, most providers limit traffic per month. Are there estimations somewhere how much data a PeerTube server could transfer? Let's say that I produce (upload) 10 videos per moth. 10GB and 1000 views each. That wouldn't come to 10 * 10 * 1000, would it? Different video qualities have different size (which increases storage costs), plus P2P should reduce the traffic. Is there some public data to look at?
โฌ 12,99/month for Facebook or Instagram if you donโt want to sell your soul to Zuckโs ad machine? (They will still track you as much as legally possible, of course, just donโt show โrelevantโ ads.)
Sounds more like: โThey trust me โ and now also pay me โ dumb fucks.โ
Glad I donโt have a Facebook account anymore. Time to delete Instagram as well โ it somehow never wasnโt my network anyway. ๐
I write my blog post in pure HTML tags. The most used tags are:
<code>
<pre> | <pre lang="_lang_here">code...</pre>
<a href=""></a>
<ul></ul>
<ol></ol>
<img>
Apart from that, I have my own custom WP shortcodes to automate stuff. That is all. KISS principle.
@nixCraft Maintaining good architecture of the project. That makes everything else easier, including code writing and reading, be it three weeks later, three years later, or someone else's code.
@parcifal It depends on the context. When it comes to my personal projects, my commits don't affect anyone else. If a feature I'm planning to implement consists of three tangible units of work, I'll commit as soon as each unit is implemented, unless, of course, they're small enough to be done together in one day. At work, I believe it doesn't matter too. People develop new features in separate branches, and commits should be squashed before creating a pull request.
@Codeberg A few notes on the UX. I suppose these two checkboxes should have red asterisks next to them or other indicators that they're required to proceed. Also, to me it's not clear what is SEPA. Maybe it's a common abbreviation, but this is the first time I'm hearing it.
@ottaross@arstechnica "In 2006, SpaceDev licensed the HL-20 concept from NASA as the starting point for the commercial Dream Chaser." How is it related to X-37B besides similar looks?
A good way to discover interesting posts on here is to follow hashtags. When you do this, posts with the tags will start showing up in your timeline even from accounts you don't follow.
To follow a hashtag, just search for that hashtag, then click the "Follow" button at the top of the page of results for that tag.
To check what you're following, go to your profile and select "followed hashtags" or #
@feditips I found that when you're following hashtags, posts are not filtered by language. To me it makes following hashtags pointless. I don't want to see posts in languages I don't know.
Poll: How frequently do you apply security patches and software updates to your #Linux, #Unix, or #FreeBSD server or desktop? Please boost for reach. TIA. ๐
