🚀 I made it just in time and got my first S-Class ship! - Also my first real starship after the starter shipwreck. Just finished the Cartographer Redux event in No Man's Sky and really enjoyed it 🤩

The expedition was like a long and rewarding tutorial mission, I have learned a lot. I tried the game a few years ago but bounced off for some reason. Gave it another try and now I can't stop exploring. Such a beautiful game.

Belts replaced, flywheel freed of gunk, mechanics lubricated. We’re getting somewhere. Needs lots more cleaning and lubrication to work more reliably still but so far things are very promising! A little videoclip of the Sansui after replacing the belts, tons of cleaning and lubrication. Playback, stop, rewind and fast forward work. The VU meters and the tape counter also seem to be fine!

:legothink: This is how you block Threads for your account:

1. Lookup any Threads profile in your mastodon search. For example Mr. Mosseri (project lead Threads): @mosseri

2. Click the 3dots menu next to "Follow".

3. Choose "Block domain threads.net"

That's it, you are done. This hides all your posts and your profile from Threads even if your instance does not block.

time for some obscure #videogame #history

back in the late 80s, Wasteland - the predecessor to our modern #fallout - sold a quart of a million copies. in an industry where 30k units was considered a solid hit, over 200k was insane

of course, this meant a sequel was in order. developed by interplay, but published by EA made the IP a problem. EA owned the name and the setting, but interplay's team was the only one that really understood it.

in the end, interplay started work on their own spiritual successor to wasteland called Meantime. it was cancelled eventually, and afaik, no code from that project has ever surfaced

on the other hand, EA did manage to put together its own spiritual successor. Fountain of Dreams didn't contain any WL code, but it did ape the interface and style pretty accurately. it is set in a post-apocalyptic Florida, and cratered hard with reviewers.

last year, i finally tracked down a copy. it was sadly missing the original diskettes, but thankfully its last owner made backups of the masters

:sonic_run: About 20 SEGA Master System games are available for Nintendo Switch as part of the SEGA AGES series. They often go on sale for ~1.99 and as @JTO_is_Typing kindly pointed out, Phantasy Star even includes the Japan-only Yamaha FM chip soundtrack version.
