Meta’s new app “Threads” is up pre-order in the App Store. Let’s do a quick check on what data they want from you compared to the official Mastodon app, Mammoth and Ivory.
Spoiler: Meta wants to know and track everything about you, and Mastodon doesn’t want anything.
Well, looks like Reddit pulled the plug a little early. Apollo started crashing, but I just manually revoked my token and it looks like it fixes the crashing, but no more Reddit access haha. Those folks are fun to the very end! 😛
"They found that women hunt in 79% of the analyzed societies, regardless of their status as mothers. More than 70% of female hunting appears to be intentional—as opposed to opportunistic killing of animals encountered while performing other activities, and intentional hunting by women appears to target game of all sizes, most often large game."
So #Reddit has sent us this nice "either you open up your subreddit or else" letter too. We will keep the subreddit private, let's see what their "next steps" look like.
> Our goal here is to ensure that existing mod teams establish a path forward to make sure your subreddit is available for the community that has made its home here.
We have established a path forward, it is using the #Fediverse instead of Reddit.
#Reddit has stooped to a new low. Deleted comments are being undeleted.
I used a third party tool before they were all shut down to edit and then delete all of my comments and posts. Thousands of comments. They're all back now.
I've confirmed with others that this is happening. I have even seen a video where manual deletion was undone. They are refusing to remove content now.
Something I can say about getting older is that every day I realize I truly had no idea JUST how many of the decisions people in control of this world make are composed entirely of vibes.
I have a fun idea to commission some of the artists who did Apollo icons to create some really cool final Apollo wallpapers to remember the app by. Is this something you'd pay a few bucks for, where the proceeds would go toward Apollo's refund fees?
I can’t believe any country would consider adopting Starlink at this point, especially a democracy, when the CEO has shown an eagerness to interfere with Starlink’s service if it becomes politically interested in a global conflict, or if it thinks there could be lulz and dank memes.
"Reddit apparently “seemed unaware that the apps which have so far received exemptions from API pricing do not have sufficient moderation functions,” for example. When one moderator noted that blind mods who can’t effectively moderate after the changes “may be removed at Reddit’s discretion per policy,” Reddit “deferred comment.”"
What do most TikTok users and Reddit users have in common? They still have understand anything about how to check Reddit, TikTok (and other socials) properly, even without need to see a single ad. But obviously they react like if the end of Apollo is equivalent to the end of the world.
