NOW: Donald Trump has asked Judge Tanya Chutkan to dismiss his election subversion indictment in D.C. outright, arguing 'absolute presidential immunity' protects him from the allegations charged.

Another version of if you say something false enough times it will become true.

This lie has now been ongoing for about 2 years. It seems retailers have discovered this lie as a cover for financial problems caused by poor management decisions, particularly in product mix. competition from online retailing (Amazon) and in some cases, debt.

PI picks up on one major clue that this is BS: "Target did not include any specifics on the level of theft at the closing stores or how that compares to stores that will remain open"

The_Icarian,
@The_Icarian@federated.press avatar

@qkslvrwolf
From PI: "Target is also closing one store in San Francisco, located at 1690 Folsom Street."

I was actually in this store in April. It appeared like it was being trashed from within with huge gaps in the merchandise on the shelves in numerous categories likely due to a failure to restock. Another SF store I visited was well stocked.The store itself was poorly maintained.

As a reporter I covered retailing for 6 years. You can tell when something is wrong. Theft wasn't the reason.

Today in Labor History October 5, 1789: The Women's March on Versailles put an end to royal authority. The October March was one of the earliest and most significant events of the French Revolution. The march began with a near riot at the Parisian markets over the high price and scarcity of bread. Encouraged by revolutionary agitators, thousands of women ransacked the armory, stole weapons and marched to the Palace of Versailles. The mob besieged the palace and forced King Louis XVI to give in to their demands. This marked the end the king's independence and authority, and the beginning of a new balance of power that favored the nation's common people, collectively termed the Third Estate.

From Heated:
Technically, that New York City flood was “mild”
If we want to understand the full picture of climate-fueled flood risk to New York City, we can’t just look at rainfall.

Scientists who study coastal flooding actually consider NYS’s flood to be “mild.” That’s because, while the rainfall itself was record-breaking—more than 8.65 inches fell at JFK airport—the coastal flood level was only two feet above high tide.

    1.4 Million Wealthy Americans Are Evading Nearly $66 Billion in Federal Taxes

    More than 1.4 million wealthy Americans have still not filed their taxes for 2017-20 years, with the total amount owed to the federal government reaching "a whopping $65.7 billion"—almost enough to fund a universal childcare program for one year or a universal school lunch program for more than two years.

    I predict NOTHING will will happen to tRUmp as a result of this fraud trial.

    Or ANY trial for that matter.

    He'll keep this tied up in court forever, he'll never fork over a dime. None of his properties will be taken away.

    He'll work this for all the publicity it is worth, raise money from his suckers to pay for it.

    He will use whatever shady means possible to shelter his cash. He'll get his cases on appeal in front of judges he appointed.

    Walter Isaacson's Elon Musk book exposes the deep roots of Musk’s right-wing politics. Here are the basic elements:

    1. A cruel dominating father (who Musk both hates and emulates)

    2. A pronounced lack of empathy (he considers empathy a weakness)

    3. A strict hierarchical worldview amplified by a messiah complex (Musk truly believes he is the savior of humanity)

    2/2 John Dillinger’s criminal exploits played a significant role in the development of America's police state – namely the creation of Federal Bureau of Investigation.
    J. Edgar Hoover, director of the Bureau of Investigation, used Dillinger as a rationale to turn the BOI into the FBI.
    In 1933-34 Dillinger evaded police in four states. Wounded, he recovered at his father's Indiana home. He went to Chicago, sought refuge in a brothel. It’s owner betrayed him to the FBI who killed him 07 22, 1934
