Have you been infected with COVID-19 multiple times? | ABC

🔹Immunology experts say contracting COVID multiple times is a sign there could be a problem with the immune system.

🔹Researchers have found the more times you're infected the higher chance you have of developing long COVID or other chronic health conditions.

🔹Those at risk are urged to be up to date with their booster vaccinations.

"Getting COVID-19 multiple times means either you're exposed to it a fair bit and you're not as diligent protecting yourself, or there might be something wrong with your ability to fight infections," Professor Faux said

@Susan60 @MyView @DenisCOVIDinfoguy @auscovid19 Legislating a health and safety requirement for "clean indoor air" and carefully enforcing it would go a long way to helping - especially in schools. But that would cost actual Governments money, so 🤷.

Subject: Advantages of having an autism diagnosis,

#AskingAutistics, esp if you've got experience of seeking, getting, or considering getting, a diagnosis... for self and/or child.

What are/would be the benefits of the diagnosis?

Anything at all!

Reposts appreciated too ☺️

GinevraCat,
@GinevraCat@toot.community avatar

@KatyElphinstone Diagnosis for my children- helpful for me to understand how to research helpful interventions, and request accommodations at school. Also, for my youngest, to understand him a bit better.

Cons: Diagnosis can be disadvantageous in some adult contexts e.g. here in the Netherlands, autistic or ADHD diagnosed people have to pay for an independent psychiatric evaluation before being able to apply for a driver's license. 1/2

@grrrr_shark @KatyElphinstone For DEPRESSION too!?!?!
Wow! I understand the ADHD (grudgingly, after reading about accident statistics), but every year is excessive.
Also, the stats mostly point to undiagnosed and untreated ADHD as a risk factor for driving, so I feel like I'm being punished for responsible self-awareness!

PLEASE REBLOG IF YOU DON'T WANT ANOTHER HOLOCAUST
Yesterday in London in Leicester Square 3 Israelis were speaking Hebrew between them then a person asked them if they're Jewish and once they said yes, he and his group started hitting them and soon about 30 people were hitting the 3 Jews in public in central London. It took the police half an hour to respond. We can't even speak our native language in public anymore and that's why I'm leaving the UK. SPEAK UP. END ANTI-SEMITIC HATE NOW.

"Go to an old cemetery. See all the baby graves from before the 1950s & 60s? After that, hardly any. That's when people started vaccinating their children against deadly childhood diseases. If you're unsure what to do to protect your kids, the answer is literally written in stone." — Michael Okuda

Without vaccines, many transmissible diseases were once an early death sentence. People are so quick to forget how fortunate we are to have access to them.

@irina @luckytran In the early 2010s I worked at a nursery school. One of our 3 year olds got measles and ended up in intensive care. His mom asked the Dr how this could happen to a vaccinated child. Doc replied that without the protection from the vaccination he'd have died.

Took this picture of my latest #sewing projects in dim morning light during missile attacks, with no electricity or water at that moment, and later the attack ended, the tees went to school in children's backpacks, and I never got to see how they fit, or take a better photo.
I was told they go over the heads just fine, which was my main worry with this kind of a collar.
Sometimes I try to separate topics of the posts but I can't really separate #WarVsUkraine from the rest of my life.

Which flavor of #neurodivergent is inability to feel belonging to any group? I think, I finally got why I don’t get that #gender thing. Basically, a gender is just another cohort, with some assumed properties. A group one feels belonging to. And I have never felt as a part of any group. I never fit in. Each cohort is supposed to have certain properties, and I just never have all. I just feel like impostor in any, including any gender/sexuality groups, including #agender #queer #nd #AuDHD

What I got instead was folks arguing about what the ride was and who was on it, and the biggest authority saying, "well, you're still breathing and coherent, so we're not gonna do anything."

Last night's bedtime reading with Ginza was finally finishing The Kalevala and after that I began reading for the first time Tolkien's The Silmarillion. @IzabelaKaramia That’s so wonderful that she trusts you now. Two days ago I got close enough to the stray kitten / young cat in our bicycle lockup at work to see that they really needed medical attention. They were looking poorly, badly underfed and a bit unsteady on their feet. I managed to lure them into a box and handed them over to animal welfare. I hope they make it and find a good forever home. 😥

I miss my strong core
Miss my teenage metabolism

@DenisCOVIDinfoguy @auscovid19 That's really interesting and encouraging. Especially because I read an article yesterday where nursery / daycare centres in Germany(? I think) with donated HEPA filtration units were compared to those without. In the HEPA-equipped centres, infections were 30% higher.
I did not read the original paper, and it wasn't a controlled study, but it was interesting to think about how that could happen.
