A brand new #JulesVerne spirit lamp that I created from a terrestrial globe over which a small metal moon watches. The foot is an assembly of different steel and brass parts. The cage-shaped lampshade, in old-style riveted steel, comes from an antique boat oil lamp.

The dual aspects of my #childhood explained in two festive greeting cards... My dad was #Jewish, my mom was not. I was raised as everything and nothing (eventually nothing won). Here's a card from my mom's side of the family for my first #Christmas. Also a #Hanukkah card from my dad's side.

As an overseas resident, who still maintains residency in the US, I have to jump through hoops to vote in the next election.
Given Biden's performance in the Middle East and his feckless warmongering in Asia, I'm wondering if it is worth my effort to vote this time.
I am leaning towards not bothering this time for the first time in my life.

Two pics of my hubby & I from our last days in San Francisco. He was English, I was American & we were moving to the UK. Getting my Right to Remain visa wasn't a dawdle, but neither was it impossible.

Hubby can't remember what the minimum salary threshold was back then, but he was earning less than £15,000 a year.

We couldn't move here now as the government plans to crack down on LEGAL migration, including raising the minimum salary threshold for a visa to £38,700. No one we know earns that!

An interesting thought does strike me as I create some tools and automations. I was pondering the new door sign doorbell thing and making it have seasonal displays and automating it all.

And I pondered that it is not impossible that a lot of these silly little things could out live me.

In decades to come, a doorbell sign in Abergavenny could do a Halloween theme automatically because I made it so, even long after I am gone, maybe even long after the house is sold to someone else.

I was pretty happy when I recently acquired an Eames chair & stool (reproduction/not an original - way too expensive), I was pretty pleased with the major improvement in my #reading #infrastructure.

But now, I feel I missed a chance for a proper upgrade.... [sighs]
