Created this after reading conversation in comments below some tech article somewhere. Someone mentioned "surfing the #internet sewer" and I really liked that phrase.
»New Windows AI feature records everything you’ve done on your PC - Recall uses AI features "to take images of your active screen every few seconds."« 🤦♂️
"As you use your PC, Recall takes snapshots of your screen. Snapshots are taken every five seconds while content on the screen is different from the previous snapshot. "
If you only read one article this year, it has to be THIS by @Mer__edith, the president of #signal :
"AI is a marketing term, not a technical term of art. [...]
This is also why it’s imperative that we recognize mass surveillance – and ultimately the surveillance business model – as the root of the large-scale tech we’re currently calling “AI”."
I've just appended '_nomap' to the name of my WiFi (SSID) because apparently that's the only way to stop every passing #iPhone from capturing the SSID and sending it with its location back to Apple, who use it to create a global database which tracks devices that offer WiFi or have a WiFi hotspot.
Every person with an iPhone is a roaming #surveillance mule and #Apple doesn't give a shit about anyone's #privacy or the potential harms creating such a database enables. Remember that.
«...for every repair, an independent repair shop must send #Samsung your name, address, telephone number, your phone’s unique serial number and IMEI, your “customer complaint,” and all the details of your repair. »
Very concerning: An Israeli Company Is Hawking Its Self-Launching Drone System to US-Police Departments. A Louisiana sheriff’s department has been testing the drone system, which is already used by Israeli police & many settlements. There’s a documented history of US-Israel security tech exchanges, which civil rights & racial justice advocates have long criticized for contributing to the militarization of the police: #Surveillance#PoliceState#Racism#Droneshttps://theintercept.com/2024/05/17/israel-orione-drone-us-police-louisiana/
Lets say, I have a Teams call with someone who uses Windows, and has Windows Recall enabled. Am I going to be recorded by it on the other end? Am I going to be warned about this feature being on? Can I opt out? How does it affect my privacy? Is this in any way legal in the EU? What happens with calls between US and EU? Which legislation applies?

"On 16 January 2015, within weeks of Palestine joining, Bensouda opened a preliminary examination into what in the legalese of the court was called “the situation in Palestine”. The following month, two men who had managed to obtain the prosecutor’s private address turned up at her home in The Hague.."
