Debating with friends in email about whether or not there can be empirical evidence of God. I suggested people have more than one view of what an empirical perception is, how it can be limited or not. Philosophers like Jacob Needleman argued for reasonable empirical experience of God & if you work on consciousness you can have the same experience--so then it becomes ‘replicable experience’. (Method does not involve hallucinogenic drugs.)
What's the difference between unity and Oneness? Would you use these two terms interchangeably? I'm not a native speaker of English. There's only one word for both in my mother tongue, but I love having the choice in English. To me 'unity' suggests harmony and a very strong bond, whereas 'Oneness' is conscious identity. A marriage, for example, could be a long-lasting and fulfilling unity of two people without the epiphany of eternal Oneness ever reaching them. But I could be wrong. I've googled both words and found some articles on Christian blogs about the differences. According to them, Oneness is reserved for Oneness with God. Although I'm not a Christian, I would agree that Oneness is ultimately identity with the One. However, I believe that we can find this identity with, or rather IN, each other and don’t need to have a preconceived notion of God to do so. Let me know your thoughts! #spirituality#love#oneness#unity#nonduality@philosophy@spirituality
This night I had an interesting experience.
I have never astral projected before, only lucid dreaming but I am very interested in the topic and wanna try to project some time.
But tonight something interesting happened. I woke up in the night and was half awake and quickly slipped back into sleep. When I was about to sleep I felt myself float out of my body. I remember myself floating around above my couch (where I was sleeping) and when I realized (hey I'm floating around outside my body!) I felt I was pulled back towards my physical body and woke up in sleep paralysis.
The experience isn't very clear in my memory - kinda blurry like a dream. And also my living room was dark with only some things being visible even though the lights were turned on in the physical.
However I don't think it was a dream because normally in dreams, the mind fills in stuff such as differences and other people and here was none of that.
What's an example of a work of art (literature, music, poetry, theater, painting, whatever) that you've had a spiritual experience with? (Take this how you'd like...at one with the universe, in touch with God, deeply aware of something larger than yourself; however you think of it is fine.)
Boosts appreciated, commentary appreciated but not necessary. :)
More and more surveys point to decreasing membership in religious institutions and a corresponding rise of “nones,” but this doesn’t mean an absence of belief or lack of #spirituality.
But the ‘nones’ are affiliating with new institutions, including a number of churches that use #hallucinogens.
I saw this on FB earlier and immediately thought it was a comment on spiritual bypassing (the tendency for some spiritual folk to use their beliefs as a way of avoiding challenging personal or political realities).
Then I saw it had been shared by the meditation teacher Tara Brach with the caption, 'the wisdom of elders 💕'. She clearly took it the opposite way.
How do you see it? Curious what the cartoonist intended.
A great man said you'd be terrified if you knew how many people have no soul. In the underlying spiritual tradition sometimes called the perennial philosophy, there is a belief that in order to have a soul that can survive death, one must grow one, within. Many traditions reference "stunted souls". To grow a soul, it's said, one must act against one's own automatic tendency to selfishness, and unkindness. To do that, one must watch oneself honestly--and see those tendencies...

The chasm separating us from those who hurt us, esp ⚪️ evangelicals, is not of our creation so we can’t seal it. We won’t get to wholeness pining for them to come to their senses & cross over.
I'm Kahlil, but you may call me Lunæros! I'm extremely new here, just making my way downtown, migrating from the abdominal X app for a plethora of reasons.
Emboldened by the fascist Ky GOP imposing their religious beliefs on women and LGBTQ folks, now magats are harassing businesses of people who follow different spiritual paths.
This was never going to end with abortion and trans people - you know that, right?
They intend to eliminate anyone and everyone who will not bow to their disgusting cult. Today it's crystals and nature religions. Tomorrow it's Buddhism, Islam, Hinduism, Sufis, and Judaism.
These nutjobs don't care about constitutional rights and are fine with using police state violence to enforce their cult's backward and barbaric beliefs. And if that doesn't work, they're fine with murder, arson, and assault.
