Alaska's snow #crab season is canceled for second year in a row
An estimated 10 BILLION crabs disappeared in 2022 — a 90% plunge in the population. Panic now taking hold in Alaska's fisheries, which produce 60% of America's seafood🦀
Every anemone in Dumaguete is filled with interesting critters. The Harlequin Crab is among the cutest, with its little cartoonish eyes and flashy colors.

During an afternoon trip to #Edmonds, #Washington in the great #PacificNorthwest, I saw a public #art installation that I thought was pretty neat! The #salmon are windmills with bells that tinkle when the #wind blows strongly enough (which it did not, because it was a beautiful, mild #autumn day).
The ferry in the background is the #KingstonFerry. There were people #fishing off the dock, catching flounder, salmon, and perch. Others had their #crab pots down, and one guy caught some #shrimp!
Hurrying home now, extra fast I hope the train takes me. Partner had mentioned in a message she couldn't help get a bit of #crab - already all cleaned and everything at the grocery store, just had to cook. Now kid2 sends me this pic, message - looks like it's cooked! #Food#Cooking#Indian#Curry #DasInKobe
Oh got home and this dish of #Crab curry is bigger than I thought. And partner has been busy! There's #chicken#curry too (and it's 🔥 and awesome!) - big batch so I can take some in for #Japan ese colleagues here (especially one who said he wanted it "authentic" hot) #Indian#Cooking #DasInKobe
Italy’s blue crab invasion: If you can’t beat ’em, eat ’em.
The invasive species is now feasting on young clams and mussels, along with fish roe and other aquatic life, endangering the country’s culinary shellfish tradition.
“These crabs have been here for quite a while but were still pretty hard to come by just about a year ago. Now even a simple wooden fishing boat returns to the dock with dozens of them on board.”
