The Vancouver Island marmot is endemic to Vancouver Island. It is listed as an endangered species: there is about 300 marmots in the mountains.

They are coming out of hibernation this month. If you see a Vancouver Island marmot while hiking here, please report your sightings to the Vancouver Island Marmot Recovery Foundation.

Here’s a video I created about the rarest marmot in the world. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h_oYUNNBzU0

This whole piece is excellent and worth your time, but if you only read 2 paragraphs…

“For people who are that outraged and furious, my suggestion is that you stop watching so many cable news shows and stop getting your news from social media or videos. That much rage and anger isn’t good for you.

You are being manipulated by a rage machine. Your rage is fueling a profitable industry and driving polarization.”

@tantramar My solution was to get rid of my television over 10 years ago and to read the news instead (no videos), and only from trusted traditional media. I pick the news that interest me: local, national and international news. I am not forced fed graphic videos.

Went looking for owls this morning and found this beautiful red-breasted sapsucker (Sphyrapicus ruber) in a forest in Comox Valley. This bird is found in Western Canada. It spends winter in south-west US and Mexico.

I will not get into arguments on the internet. I will not get into argum…

@tantramar Something saying nothing speaks volume. Something we learn as we get older. Well done, Chris! 👍

@tantramar I had to edit the first word in my post and replace 'something' with 'sometimes'.
Non, ce n'est pas toujours facile, I agree. But you did it! Some people are not worth the time and energy to argue with ;)

@tantramar I like to make my own mistakes and I don't need autocoorrect to help me with that.

This is Roméo and his wooden pillow (circa 1997).
I showed him as a kitten how to use this log as a scratching post and he did for his entire life. The log followed us every time we moved.

What’s the difference between drinking hot water and trying to get a second mug of tea out of one tea bag?

None. There is no difference. #FFS #ThursdayTeaUpdate

Someone online a long, long time ago referred to the grocer’s apostrophe as “holy shit; here comes an s” and I hear it in my head every single time I see an apostrophe doing a plural’s job. #grammar #EatsShootsAndLeaves

I have been tracking owls for the past few days. Saw a great-horned owl this afternoon. Unfortunately it was up a tree with lots of branches and it was backlit so I don't have any good photos but I know where it lives and I will be back! 😁 In the meantime, here's a ball of moss.

I'd like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the thorough feedback of the book cover by @tantramar (thank you very much!) and Laurie Bennett, professional translator, for proofreading the texts.
