I was walking down a track that was enclosed by reeds on both sides. I have never heard so much song from Sedge Warblers in my life. There were loads of them (and Reed Warblers). They just clung to the reeds in the wind and sang. I was about 10ft away from this one, it did not mind me being there at all.
Ever wanted to know what a baby Avocet looks like? Well you are in luck, here is one of many seen today (albeit quite a distance from where I took the picture)
Just back from Frampton Marsh RSPB. Got quite a few photos to work through, but while I am doing that, here is a lifer for me, a Pied Avocet in flight. [Cropped vertical axis to allow upload to Mastodon]
If you like my photos I give you more! Another Pied Stilt enjoying the sunset and taking the opportunity to have a little bath. It was pretty close to dark when I took this photo and it is only due to the wonders of modern technology (cameras that can shoot at massive ISO and de-noise technology to clean up afterwards) that I can take a photo in such low light AND still freeze water droplets - I could barely see the birds without the camera - but I could still see the colours of the water (and sky). #birds#birdphotography
