Trip this: if trump's ashes are shipped to the moon or some asteroid, and a billion years into the future it (trump/trump's ashes) becomes the foundational DNA for a new species of mammalian+reptilian hybrid that now terrorizes a star system several light years away.

As an introvert and wannabe hermit I socialize with very few people, and almost no one outside of necessity.

Even so, I know 5 people affected or killed by Covid.

1 died very early on from Covid Pneumonia. A former good friend, who went from a free-thinking hippie like dude to a "don't take my guns" bigoted classist republican. Also a doomsday prepper. Lot of good that did him.

3 have long Covid which takes them out of "production" on a regular basis.

1 had a heart attack from the damage it caused and barely made it out alive. He'll never have a quality life from now on.

Covid has such a prevalent and devastating effect on our society that our entire race has suffered permanent damage from it.

Quality of life, a thriving economy and culture has degraded to a shadow of its former self.

Humankind no longer lives, it just survives.

"Lawmakers and the governor are so proud of themselves that they’ve already branded this misguided way to deal with homelessness “The Florida Model.” But mandating that a class of people exist behind by barbed wire and supervised by authorities in the name of “security” is called internment. It’s incarceration as punishment for being destitute. And, it’s despicable — reminiscent of some of the world’s worst atrocities."

There is already a subterfuge in government and media trying to quell the people who are attempting to bring it to light.

It actually compares to where we are in climate change as well, the early stages of the more severe effects of authoritarianism.

Dawg, no fascist movement has ever gotten everyone to agree, or even a majority of people to agree. They don't care. They don't care about reality either. By the time this is over, legally speaking, Trump will have WON the 2020 election because that is what they're going to change the laws and history to say. This is HOW fascism works. They're not trying to CONVINCE you, they're trying to FORCE YOU to comply and render your opinions and even REALITY, fucking IRRELEVANT.

That's HOW IT WORKS.

the_Effekt,

@AnarchoNinaWrites

Spot on. We're at the point at which there is nothing functional in 95% in the houses of the Administration that will prevent this oppression.

This is happening in both parties. With the Republicans it's just obvious, in-your-face and much faster.

War is becoming a disgrace among Democratic constituents, I would say the majority by now. This may well sink the Democratic Party.

I expected to be ignored just like I have been so many times on #twitter (refuse to call the #birdsite "X", ugh).

I woke up to numerous #boost notifications and new followers. Wow.

A place to actually connect.

How wonderful.

A report into soaring grocery prices, rising energy bills and steep airfares will be released on Wednesday amid expectations its findings and recommendations will cause a headache for some of the country's biggest and most powerful companies.

It comes amid a cost of living crisis that has intensified an already-growing distrust of supermarkets, airlines and energy companies.

At the heart of the price gouging inquiry, initiated by the ACTU and led by Allan Fels, is determining in a high inflation environment what's general inflation and what else might be influencing pricing behaviour, the main offending price gouging industries, how they do it and how it impacts everyday Australians.

I have real trouble getting my head around the way we nearly eliminated flu season for a year and now we're right back to accepting tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths per year. Same with Covid, of course. How many other lives could we save with modest change?

the_Effekt,

@williampietri

I guess the economy is so fragile that we can't afford another stall. So people must die to keep the money flowing.

the_Effekt,

I believe we could have both too, but some reform in how it's all managed would need to take place.

I don't like to dwell to much on the cristian mythos, mostly because I did so plenty of times while growing up. Yet Hazbin Hotel has me thinking about it again, and I realize, Lucifer and Jesus actually have a lot in common. Which is a bit ironic honestly...

Yeah, I'll burn a #GiftArticle for WaPo dunking on Nextdoor: https://wapo.st/3ukb2Zg

"“Nextdoor taught me that my neighbors are bad people,” said one former subscriber online. “I really would have preferred not to know that.” It’s not entirely the fault of the people who run Nextdoor. They’ve got all kinds of reminders to be kind, to not be racist, to not overreact. But its very existence fosters exactly that. It’s like owning a roadside bar and telling people not to drink and drive."

the_Effekt,

There is a convenience to larger towns, cheaper restaurants, car repairs, grocery stores nearby. Small down side for me though.

The less people I have to deal with, the better off I am.
