Did you get to see the total eclipse? We had cloudy skies here and only a partial eclipse was visible on the west coast anyway. So I finished "After the Eclipse" instead!

This is Oceania, one of my favorites. I'm very drawn to the color palette as well as the texturing and lighting. The rippling waves in deep, jewel-toned emerald green and sapphire blue hues made me think of the light filtering through the water in the sea. A woman in my local arts group described her art medium as "iris folding." I couldn't imagine folding irises, but I learned that it was paper folding in an iris (as in the eye or camera aperture, not the flower) pattern. Intrigued, I set out to see if I could create something similar. The result was this piece, which I titled Composition Vermillon.
