Belgian #police just forced a brown person in the seat in front of me off the #ICE#Brussels-#Cologne because he didn't bring his #ID card. I think ID is required for crossing borders within #Schengen but it's incredibly depressing that, as so often, they picked a non-white citizen for controls.
Interestingly, they also checked the white person in the adjacent seat but only for the train ticket, not the ID.
Those were the days (of mass disturbances)! In #Cologne, pigeons, dogs and cats (the latter outfitted with little bells on their feet) were released in the middle of a church service in the abbey church of St. Cäcilien in order to protest against an unwanted priest. Later, St. Cäcilien’s convent was attacked, partially destructed, and attempted to set it on fire. Don't mess with Cologne churchgoers in 1669!
My team is searching for a senior #Salesforce dev. If you ever wanted to work in IT and help cure cancer, this is your chance. Also the #DKMS is a nonprofit, you'll not work for making rich people richer but for helping people get treatment. Feel free to message me for details.
Workplace is #Köln or #Tübingen whatever you prefer. 125 days of home office are possible per year.
This is the river Rhine in cologne. It's the biggest and longest river in Germany.
The drought shows us structures and things that are usually under the water.
There is very rarely snow in #cologne and it usually thaws immediately. When a choir sings Christmas carols in front of the cathedral (a bit cheesy, but that's how it really was), it's almost a #SilentSunday
The Channel Tunnel's operator dreams of expanding into the rest of Europe.
Because of Brexit and social dumping by ferry companies, the Channel Tunnel is gradually losing market share. The operator, Getlink – whose workers went on strike on Thursday – has plans to develop rail connections with Cologne, Geneva and Marseille.
