It is really incredible just how big the student revolution has become. This is Lausanne in Switzerland, a country hitherto on a par with Germany or even worse in oppressing criticism of Israel. #studentprotests
Professionals through professors are now contacting students who have been protesting to offer them mentorships to help them when they graduate. It is another way to help. #StudentProtests
"Thanks to student organizers, along with a critical minority of professors, intellectuals, scientists, technical workers, lawyers, human rights activists and cultural producers, people across the US are mobilizing in defense of first-amendment rights and against #Israel’s genocide of #Gaza|ns. They are making history, and they know it. An increasingly authoritarian variant of neoliberalism will not stop them."
The Irish 🇮🇪 students at Trinity have won divestment 🎉:
“TCD said that the university "will complete a divestment from investments in Israeli companies that have activities in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and appear on the UN blacklist in this regard".
Students across the US are facing arrests and violence for protesting against #Israel’s actions in #Palestine.
President Biden and media are stifling dissent and misrepresenting the protests as antisemitic or led by "outside agitators.” This term is resurrected to discredit protesters, reminding of past racism.
The older generation's failure to address these issues has alienated many young people, including Jews, disillusioned by false narratives.
"A clear line of argument has emerged from many progressive commentators: First, the overwhelming majority of the protesters are peaceful and not anti-Semitic. Second, it undermines and mischaracterizes a vital movement to focus on a few bad actors who spout anti-Semitic vitriol, or to emphasize a few chants that glorify Hamas or call for the destruction of Israel."
“You’re hurting me. I can’t breathe. Stop.” And they said to me what they’ve said to so many victims of police brutality: “You’re talking. You can breathe.”
Jewish Professor Annelise Orleck arrested at #DartmouthCollege campus
"The real occupation of universities is by the political class, in defiance of autonomy and scientific freedom [..] There's a political harnessing and a disconnection from the facts."
#GazaProtests: The 60 days a Paris university was at the heart of the national political debate
“Why is the simplest explanation of campus protests so hard to accept?
Young people were sympathetic to Palestinians even before the war began. Why is that ignored?”
~ Philip Bump
And the claim that the protests are "all about" antisemitism is a red herring that does not serve the best interests of the Jewish community, as it tries to stifle necessary conversation about Israel's treatment of the Palestinian people.
I saw another post with this and I was looking where I can purchase #HindHall. I couldn't find anywhere so I just donated to #UNRWA. But I did find this
"The students, as they will tell you, are there for Gaza, where 90 per cent of schools, and all universities, have been destroyed. The university, meanwhile, is forced to confront the moral vacuity of its policies, which have in the end protected no one except extremists willing to join forces with neo-Nazis to safeguard Israel from criticism."
