Mastodon absolutely needs more journalists. We should not have millions of people boosting one another’s ideas without a solid contingent of people in here professionally trained to vet stories, check facts, and use best practices for sharing news. It is, imo, an urgent issue & critical for the ongoing success of the fediverse #Press
Russian President Vladimir Putin's appointment of a new defense minister, Andrey Belousov, is seen as an attempt to streamline Russia's economy and mobilize it for the war effort.
Russia's military has faced numerous supply and logistics problems that thwarted its all-out war against Ukraine from the get-go. Two years later, the problems of poor logistics and lack of strategic planning persist. #AureFreePress#News#press#headline#Ukraine#Russia#Putin
@Mastodon seriously? You are the very last people I'd expect to censor #Palestinian#media. Are you really that desperate to become like #Twitter or mainstream social media? I really hope that this is a sincere mistake, and that whoever pressed that #suspend button is reprimanded. This gives a very wrong signal to #Palestinians and independent #journalists / #press people who are seeking a friendly platform for their voices in the #fediverse.
If you dear reader are reading this post, please boost both Mondoweiss's original post (which will be displayed as a RE: link if you're in #Mastodon) to show your support for @mondoweiss as well as this quote #boost so that it may reach mastodon.social (because for all we know they could decide to just #fediblock their self-hosted instance altogether, thankfully that didn't happen yet and it's an account suspension for now)
The most compact two-seater electric car was presented in Switzerland
The length of the electric vehicle is 2.5 m and the width is 1.47 m. Weight is less than 600 kg.
The car has a steel unibody structure and a 6 kW engine. The Microlino Lite is classified as an L6e vehicle, so anyone with an AM class moped license (eg teenagers over 14 years old) can drive one in Europe.
Let's have a short discussion on 'when will you follow someone' on the #Fediverse especially when it comes to #politics and #press
There is a catch22 situation here, where politicians and people of the press say 'we are not going to use the Fediverse, since we cannot get enough reach there' and people here on the Fediverse say 'we will only follow people who are actually active here'.
I think that if we really want to make the Fediverse a place where we can find all the news and all the political activity we should take action to overcome this catch22 situation: if there is an official account of a politicion or a press-outlet, even if they are not (very) active: follow them!
It does not hurt you (if there is no posts, then there is also nothing to not like) and it will give them the chance to see that there is an active audience here that is worth spending time on.
Oh, and when they do get active: treat them like you want to be treated, welcome them with a warm heart and encourage them to be even more active.
"How does it feel to be a war-crimes reporter whose family bankrolled a nation that’s committing war crimes?
I can tell you.
I covered the genocide in Bosnia for The Post, wrote a book about it, and reported from Iraq & Afghanistan, among other conflict-ridden countries. Also, my ancestors were key funders of Jewish immigration to British-controlled Palestine." #GiftArticle#GiftLink https://wapo.st/3TUjTtp
