An Expert Who Has Testified in Foster Care Cases Across #Colorado Admits Her Evaluations Are Unscientific
Diane Baird labeled her method for assessing families the “Kempe Protocol” after the renowned University of Colorado institute where she worked for decades.
As #MothersDay approaches in the UK, it would be great if pubs/cafes/restaurants/etc offered their deals to all women and not just mums. For many, the exclusion just makes a crappy day that bit harder. Remember, it isn’t always by choice.
I didn't trust dad's statement that his computer got hacked.
I went snooping through his computer. He accepts random instant messages from strangers, trusts their sad stories, shares personal info, and sends them money to "help."
Now that I've violated privacy, I'm about to violate autonomy. I've already blocked any new strangers from messaging him. I'm going to start blocking these other people.
It is so weird how many parents have adopted this mindset that it is normal that your kids keep constantly bringing in sicknesses from kindergarden and school.
No, it is not normal that parents let their sick kids to come to these spaces to infect your kids. It is not normal that measels, rubella, covid, flu, infuluenza, and foot-mouth-and-hand disease are now common.
When I was a kid, I barely ever got sick - because parents would keep sick kids AT HOME.
Not only that, you can wear a mask and avoid infections. You can TEACH your kids to wash their hands - I was, most kids my age were, and not surprisingly we got sick way less.
I have never even had scabies, and only lice once!
It only takes parents to care for their kids - and themselves. Don't go to work when sick. Mask up to avoid getting sick. Advocate that sick kids wont be allowed in. Lead by example.
NAU’s Institute for Human Development is working to provide some of those parents w/better access to supports needed. With funding provided by the #Arizona#DevelopmentalDisabilities Planning Council, Providing #AccessibleTraining and #HomeSupport—PATHS—is developing resources for home visiting programs specifically for adults with #IntellectualDisabilities who have children 5 yrs old & younger.
A bill to create one of the nation’s most restrictive bans on minors’ use of #SocialMedia is heading to #Republican#Florida Gov Ron #DeSantis, who has expressed concerns about the #legislation to keep #children under the age of 16 off popular platforms REGARDLESS of parental approval.
I can finally talk about this! UABB is now offering a resource of #BookResumes for #librarians#educators and #parents to use. These ready-made docs provide all the info you need to justify offering having #books in your collection.
This is a partnership between many entities and publishers. Please, spread this around and use this to defend the right to read! See the press release below.
I've been so #busy. Tomorrow after #work I will travel to East #Finland to take care of my #parents. The distance is 320 km (200 miles). My #mother has an appointment at the hospital on Thursday, 78 km away (50 miles) from her home. We need to take a taxi to get there. I will also go to see my father in an Alzheimer's nursing home, I need to work remotely in my godparents house and I will spend nights there. #today 🥴
I just realized something slightly troublesome on the whole #apple#appstore ecosystem which is relevant to #parents but also family sharing in general.
First of all, everyone in your family can see all apps you have installed, this could probably be turned off if purchase sharing is disabled, still need to check.
Secondly and what’s worse, kids can install these apps from the family sharing setting without approval even if app purchase approval is required.
Waiting for my daughter to find this out and ask me what this tinder app is for 🤦♂️
If there are any #parents out there. I want to give you this.
The greatest gift my parents ever gave me was DIRECT COMMUNICATIONS on all social topics in life. Anything I ever asked about, we would have a full, rational discussion on what it is and why it was important.
Money. Sex. (I knew that "the secks" makes the babies. "How do babies get in there?" was my question.) Death. Education. If I asked, I got an in-depth explanation. Nothing was hidden.
Lemmy users, are your parents bad at cooking
My mum thinks French toast is just bread soaked in egg and sticks everything in the oven at 200°C and I mean everything...
