• PHP is dead
• Does PHP have a future?
• 10 reasons not to use PHP
• Here's a hundred languages to use instead of PHP
#php is a fantastic, highly capable #programming language that's constantly evolving. I suspect the authors of such articles may have used PHP once in 1995 for a "Hello world".
If you can't cope without using a million Java frameworks or whatever else is flavour of the month then you might want to reassess your own #coding skills. 😠
We just extended the nomination deadline for this round of elections to June 10th. Do you want to be more involved in the #PHP community and help us pushing new interoperability standards?
This is your occasion!!
That one time I went to a security conference on the other side of the world and defended PHP... 🤓😎
The best bit was I had pro pentesters come up to me at the end and tell me they hate trying to test modern PHP sites! They are too hard to break!😈 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlPBufBzscg#PHP
Supply chain attacks are a plague in the #JavaScript ecosystem. #PHP is less affected, but we can do even better! I just proposed a patch to #Composer to detect when your dependencies introduce new dependencies from sources you don't trust.
We will use this feature to improve the security of @symfony and @ApiPlatform. It should also be possible to port this idea to @npmjs and other package managers 🤝
🪲 I just released a Docker image specifically crafted for debugging and developing the @php interpreter. A PHP script causes a segfault? You want to develop a PHP extension? This image is for you, it contains all tools you'll need!
Hi fediverse. My name is Nishiki and I’m a web dev with 15+ years of experience. I’m making myself available as a mentor for one or two motivated individuals looking to land their first junior engineering position. I’m happy to be able to say over the past few years, I’ve mentored 4 wonderful people who have all managed to land their first tech jobs.
Please email me at hello@nshki.com if interested. A boost for reach is much appreciated!
Are you a #php developer or a WordPress/Laravel/Symfony/Drupal developer?
Understanding the underlying language will make you more effective and considerably more flexible/employable.
Understanding the language helps you read the framework code and make sense of complex things. It lets you adopt new tech. And it empowers you to switch from one project to another without fear.
Looking for some contract work to supplement my income. I’m a specialist in #php and team leadership. I can provide assistance with hiring, improving code quality, accelerating go-to-market and more.
i’m thinking about reviving NYPHP. Live in NYC (or nearby), and Interested in attending?
What PHP companiess have NYC offices? Do you know of some? Do you work at one? It would be great to have companies to sponsor, and be part of the community
Received the phpc.social newsletter today, and I just want to take a moment to sincerely thank @ramsey & @ian for their work setting up, organizing fundraising for, and administering this little corner of the fediverse. 👏
I've had a great experience here & it has become my primary social media.
phpDocumentor 3.5 is here! With better Guides support and now fully functional RST! Automatic generated class diagrams by querying your code base and much more!
I learned about an idea that lives in our community to start a foundation to help the community.
Yes I know we have the @thephpf, that's mainly focused on core development of php. #php is much larger than just the language, we have user groups, conferences, meetups, speakers, opensource projects and their maintainers.
Most of them operate for free, but they have expenses. speakers at php conferences do not get paid, part of their expenses are covered but not all.
