One of my favorite dishes is Thai style coconut curry. Seems that apart from the chili peppers the basic recipe has been pretty consistent for over 2000 years!
My first novel is a #sciencefiction thriller about what happens when GM food goes wrong. Since then I've published a #fantasy trilogy about a bunch of colonists who discover the planet they intend to colonise is already inhabited - by a race who can wield magic.
Currently working on a second trilogy set in that world and when I'm not doing that you'll find me watching #movies, eating #curry or possibly both at the same time.
I don't often post pictures of food, but tonight's supper was an absolute winner. I have made Sri Lanjan jackfruit curry before, and my middle daughter had suggested I make a pork & jackfruit curry. As I was picking up the jackfruit yesterday, I spotted tins of preserved langan (a lychee relative).
Following the original jackfruit curry recipe approximately, I made the pork-jackfruit-langan curry in a cast iron pot over charcoal, and served it over red lentils with Naan.
Tonight I made impromptu green #curry with a tin of #Maesri paste my son got as a gift (with a bundle of other delicious cooking things like lime leaves, fancy dark soy sauce, pickled...something).
Anyway, the green curry was very good. A hot spicy kick that made my nose run but attenuated immediately, did not leave a lingering burn on the tongue.
Post #Dinner Kerala ish style #Chicken#Curry#Cooking
A fair bit to take in for new/current coworkers office staff - but perhaps a bit for breakfast? Ah that ̶w̶o̶u̶l̶d̶ ̶b̶e̶ is something to wake up to !
When your body says no, it's great to have a slow cooker. Made #curry from my freshly created mix. Added lentils, tomato and broccoli. Grabbed a spoon of old rice, and here we are. #vegan#food#foodporn#vegetarian
Aviyal (vegetable curry) - one of my favourite vegetarian/vegan recipes. The nice thing about this dish is that you can use all your favourite vegetables. I used red peppers (capsicum), swede, carrots, potato, sweet potato, red onion and peas. All cooked in coconut milk. This goes really well with a plain rice and sourdough naan. #vegan#vegetarian#curry#indian#cooking#recipe
The view from the Indian Restaurant is pretty damn impressive. The food is very good too. Amaravati Vegetable Curry for the win. Bawarchi SLC #sandyut#curry
Made a #curry#masala#spice blend on my lunch break. I'll keep the recipe secret until I've tasted and perfected it, but I ground up dried green bell pepper in it with dried lime skin as a twist. It shouldn't be too spicy but it includes all ingredients to be complex and warming. #food#foodporn
This morning's post included a parcel from an interesting Scottish company producing blends of spices for easy to cook Indian curries. Be interesting to see what they are like. Looks like curry for dinner!
Grounding, centering mostly #Kerala style #Lunch at home today - all partner's cooking. Leftover Kaalan and sauteed vegetables - and then some terrific Red #Fish#Curry (with branzino) Cooked yesterday so the flavors have seeped and 'pickled' especially the sour of the kodampuli (dried garcinia gummi-gata). Had the curry with last bit of some kaachi-moar (cooked/scalded turmeric and spiced yogurt) #Food Cooking #Indian
Hmm, I should know what this weed is, temporarily adding it to my #mysteryplant list. (Update: this is almost certainly Pseudognaphalium californicum -- California Rabbit-Tobacco) #plants
AHA! This is why my pants smell like they have been curried after hiking!
"dried rabbit tobacco (Pseudonaphalium californicum), which already smells and taste like a curry blend"
While I was working. My son took my chicken #curry recipe, added #Tajin, #sriracha, and sesame oil, and different mixed vegetables, and made a delicious dish. So proud of him!
