Did I ever tell y’all about this #kdrama I finished recently? Missing: The Other Side is a #fantasy#mystery#thriller about a mysterious village where the spirits of dead missing people live. Their spirits go to this village and stay there until their bodies are found in the living world. Some spirits have been there for decades. The oldest spirit, Thomas, has been there for 100 years.
Living people aren’t supposed to be able to see this village, but for mysterious reasons, two living people do: Kim Wook and Mr. Jang Panseok. When Kim Wook tries to tell the police that he saw a missing child in this village, they think he’s hallucinating bc all they see is the woods.
Kim Wook grew up in a children’s home after his mom abandoned him when he was seven. Mr. Jang’s daughter was kidnapped from an amusement park on her bday 15 yrs ago and he’s been looking for her ever since.
The first episode was kind of hard to get into, but each episode left me wanting to know more.
Hi all, I've just migrated from @irfan to this account on sakurajima.social. I'll also be attempting to migrate my main account @irfan to this one in the coming days, but I'm expecting nothing on that front since it's failed so far.
I've moved to multiple servers throughout my time on the #Fediverse in pursuit for a "permanent" instance to be on, and I've never had the chance to write an #intro post lol so this will be my first.
I'm a 26 year old (in Nov 2024) (gfdi) programmer obsessed with languages such as #Python and #Shell, frameworks like #Django, and #CloudNative shenanigans like #Docker, #Kubernetes, and #Helm. I'm also obsessed with #FOSS and #Linux, and promoting them to be more viable each day for the masses so everyone could have not just free but secure access to daily computing.
I'll be using this account to mostly document my passions through mini reviews or rants. I have another picture-based account over on #Pixelfed, @irfan. All images I have posted and will be posting will include descriptive/alt text, including my pfp and banner. I also have some bots for posting local (to me, #Malaysia) #news and other relevant data cos the #Mastodon API is just so fun to play with.
Small thoughts on the books I've finished during November:
Shadow Prey (John Sandford, 1990): Fun thriller, better than "Rules" in a lot of ways, somewhat problematic in others. The almost "For the Evulz" mentality of the main villain is somewhat underwhelming. Could it be published today? Maybe, with some tweaks, especially regarding Shadow Love.
Alfred Hitchcock's second to the last film and he don't give an f...
Gratuitous nudity and violence, Hitch is letting it all hang out.
Despite knowing the killer early, there's still a solid amount of suspense through most of the running time.
There's mordant dark humor peppered throughout, and the jokes land despite yourself.
If you haven't seen it in a while, there's a lot that still holds up. And the stuff that doesn't (from a 70s point of view) is unintentionally funny.
Lovely! Lovely! Lovely!
Bob's your uncle?
The title itself feels pretty lazy though.
Wow! Almost 300 people have entered the Goodreads giveaway for the Kindle edition of "The Spiral and The Threads." Clearly, folks are already excited but for those who missed it, here's the link:
a truly outstanding crime thriller, highly recommended. The only reason it didn't get 5/5 is that the author committed a truly HEINOUS crime in the writing of the book - calling Crowded House an AUSSIE band! 😡🤬🤣 #AmReading#ebooks#Kobo@bookstodon#Aotearoa#Australia#Mystery#thriller
The #Kindle edition of "Shards" is now available for #free on Amazon's various international storefronts. This will be the case until October 4th, so get while the getting's good.

For those new to the Giallo filone, the definitive All The Colors Of Giallo (Federico Caddeo, 2019) should provide an excellent introduction. The full documentary is available below. Highly recommended!
All the Sinners Bleed by S.A. Cosby has been optioned, the author said yesterday on that other site (without more specifics). Can't wait to see Titus Crown brought to life on any screen, big or small. @bookstodon#bookstodon#thriller#TitusCrown#SACosby
