I'm Kahlil, but you may call me Lunæros! I'm extremely new here, just making my way downtown, migrating from the abdominal X app for a plethora of reasons.
Would you have a look at this dangerous mob of extremists ... erm ... singing in a workmens' hall in south Wales? I hope the local MP has police protection. 🙄 😡
Charlotte Church leads a choir in a special arrangement of "From The River To The Sea" in Bedwas, Caerphilly on Saturday. Proceeds from the event are going to the Gaza Hospital Ambulance Appeal.
"New research explores the evolutionary function of #music and singing. The study focuses on women from the Mbendjele #BaYaka, a hunter-gatherer community in the Republic of the Congo with a strong musical tradition. This research offers intriguing insights into how music fosters social bonding and communication.
"...BaYaka women foraging together for tubers were more likely to sing in large groups of strangers and less likely to sing in large groups of individuals they were close with..."
" the coalition signaling hypothesis suggests that music might have developed as a way to demonstrate group solidarity and a willingness to work together...."
Hi all! Writing an introduction or a bio is always a challenge, but here we go. I'm Shire, a thirtysomething in #Indiana, USA, currently focusing on personal and professional development as I rediscover who I am and where I fit in this not-really-post-pandemic world.
Art-wise: I absolutely adore #crochet and fiber arts in general, and have been working on designing some crochet patterns in the hopes of sharing them with the world. I'm also a #writer (mostly essays, but also trying my hand at horror fiction) and #baker.
Professionally, I am a #librarian focused on reader's advisory. If you ever need book recommendations, I'm your dude! My professional focus is improving access to libraries for LGBTQ+ people, which is currently an uphill battle, particularly in my home state.
I live with my partner and three cats. I'm also learning to play #bass and hope to start voice lessons again in the near future to regain my #singing voice.
These Papuan singers are coming home from a journey. Their voices are absolutely mesmerizing. I wish I could listen to them sing for hours.
Papua is a province of Indonesia, not the well-known Papua New Guinea (though they share a border). It houses 312 tribes who speak over 1,000 languages.
I work for New York State, also have an Etsy gift store, with constantly growing offerings (190+), mostly cute mugs and a couple of angry political T-shirts.
Finally doing that #introduction everyone is talking about on here!
I’m super excited to be joining this platform. A little bit about me, I’m a 22 year old performer who is studying it as a profession!🥸
I picked Spider-Man because think almost anyone who ever meets me says give major Tom Holland vibes. I love #onepiece#gaming#anime#singing and a lot of other things lol.
If you've been following #ChoirsForClimate you might have noticed I've written a fair few pieces for it - here they all are in one place! https://hutchingsmusic.co.uk/choirs-for-climate/ They're all released free under #CreativeCommons licenses - free to download and perform, ideally to raise funds or awareness, or campaign, for climate/ecological causes. More about each of them below: 🧵Please boost if you know anyone interested in #choir / #choral music, #singing, #conducting, etc. , or send the link directly to them.
🎤 Check out my new single "Shoot away the pain" on Bandcamp! It's a powerful track about overcoming struggles and addressing gun violence in the US. Give it a listen and share your thoughts!
Een vlijtig zingende blauwborst op een duindoorntak, sindskort weer uit de overwinteringsgebieden teruggekeerd om te broeden op het eiland. Om blij van te worden als je er eentje hoort of ziet.
Okay, my stream is going live now. I'm not going to do a very long stream, just a couple hours to get back into the groove. Feel free to come by for some #fedimusic
