#PeerTube - a certain international #Wikimedia organisation is looking for a PeerTube to do live #streaming. Any proposal?
At the moment I'm inclined to propose https://video.linux.it that is hosted by the Italian #GARR non-profit consortium, and also because we have sysadmins there for whatever question/issue, and #FLOSS activists.
Thanks for any suggested PeerTube for this context
Edited: not limited to PeerTube indeed. Anything FLOSS and user friendly would be lovely.
Over time, I've encountered many who are neuroatypical and/or disabled and/or disadvantaged in many ways—and yet they still contribute and create without income.
The Koffees and Patreons don't seem to work. It will take a more social collective.
If you are using my Free and Libre OpenSource Software in your business:
It's awesome that you chose a #FLOSS tool over using a proprietary alternative
Don't ever come to my issue tracker complaining that 30+ of your employees are facing some issue and demand an immediate fix! Cough up some money and put it as a bounty on the issues you want to be fixed. Don't ever confuse my hobby and passion as my duty towards your business!! Grow up!
MongoDB's SSPL (Server Side Public License) sounds like an extremely strong copyleft form of free software license. It sounds like MongoDB took the AGPL and made it much stronger.
Respected "open source" groups have rejected MongoDB's copyleft open source free software license, such as the OSI, RedHat, and Debian.
The criticism of the SSPL do not seem to recognize that it is a copyleft free software license. Is the OSI really a protector of copyleft free software? The politics of these organizations seem to leaning anarcho-capitalist "libertarian".
I don't believe the SSPL will harm any specific field of endeavor. Databases are used in all fields of endeavor. They are usually one of many provided cloud computing services. Cloud computing services are used in most every field of endeavor these days. Even my toothbrush has a cloud database.
By rejecting the SSPL, the OSI, RedHat, Debian have appeared to have ignored the copyleft freedoms that the SSPL guarantees.
The best way to show someone how great modern Linux has gotten is to have them set up a new computer dual booting Windows and Linux. I’m helping onboard some colleagues with new laptops and the only complaints are with Windows, not Endless OS. 😝
The #GUADEC2024 call for abstracts for those looking to be sponsored has passed (due to visa reqs & travel lead time), BUT the call for both in-person (if you don’t need sponsorship) and remote talks IS STILL OPEN!
If you’ve been working on something interesting in GNOME or GNOME-adjacent spaces and can present remotely or get yourself to Denver in July, you still have just over two weeks to propose a talk!
By using our External Data Checker, you can automatically propose (and optionally merge) updates to your app’s manifest when you make a new release or tag on your source repository; no manual fiddling with JSON or Yaml required.
After it’s merged, your update will automatically be built and submitted to Flathub.
The @protomaps project and its #pmtiles format looks really promising. You can serve an entire planet of raster or vector map tiles from a single static file by making clever use of HTTP range requests.

Looking through the @flathub apps that are passing the MetaInfo Quality Guidelines, it’s largely ones built for GNOME. That’s not a bad thing, necessarily, but KDE and cross-platform apps, let’s get you represented as well!
Devs: log into the Flathub Developer Portal then view your app listing to see where it’s passing or failing. And if you need any help or suggestions, just give me a shout; I’m happy to help!
After a looong review process I have pushed a patch from Dilip Kumar and Andrey Borodin that vastly improves the overall #Postgres performance under certain conditions (high pressure, lotsa transactions). More details in the commit message:
If your #opensource project has been accumulating donations, and you're not quite sure what to do with them because the income isn't enough to hire someone full-time, I wrote a guide for you!
