A portrait of my stylish, adventurous and outspoken friend @msquebanh that I just finished. Full piece is square. This is a narrow crop.
I love painting strong women. They inspire me. I love how this turned out.

A month ago I shared a #colorful#romantic scene with a man and a woman and a commenter here said they'd like to see something similar with two men instead. This is a result of that challenge. ❤️

Lmaoooooo Stuart Semple and his company Culture Hustle just rolled out a pre order for the newest version of their ultra matte black, Black 4.0, priced it at $8000 a bottle and gave a $7950 discount code to anyone who is not Anish Kapoor. Oh Stuart you beautiful troll, never change
Hell yes I pre-ordered that shit, Culture Hustle stunt paints are the fucking bomb. I use 2.0 and 3.0 blacks all the time. His metallics are genius, and some of the copyright breakers too
Durian Fruit, vintage botanical illustration circa 1815. This beautiful fruit is renowned for it's strong aroma and unique flavor profile. I haven't been brave enough to try it yet.
Enough of this meta Meta social media stuff from me today. I'm an artist and I really ought to be posting art. Here's a gouache #painting of some trees I did 23 years ago, when I was 19. There are more of these and I'm gonna toot them.
Pro painting tip: clean and prep surfaces BEFORE painting, especially after drywalling. 🙄 (I know that... the contractors do not, or were energy-challenged) #painting#tips
#Today was the last school day before the autumn vacations in Berlin, and that's always a great feeling. Two weeks (or at least one...) of time for everything & everyone who is dear to you. Since we do not travel, I try to implement a small "Irish" #art project, which I have long planned, a big living room painting of my favourite landscape! I've just started with sketches of old walls, which is difficult, but also fun.
A few weeks ago I shared another colorful rain image of a #gay couple in the #rain and I was contacted by someone who hoped I might do a version where the men's faces were less visible, which was funny enough my original vision and I had taken a U-turn. I was happy to oblige. Hope you enjoy the latest!
We’re at 2/11 operatives complete and just waiting to be based - I am going to be good and hold off and do that all in a batch even though all my instincts say to just do it now, and inevitably forget how I did it 😂.
don't know who Alice Pike Barney is; but it's clear she was an absolute badass painter at a time women were barely getting the respect we deserve as artists... as long as you were of a certain class and hue.
anyway, this painting is from 1906. she is in a very fin de siècle gibson girl get up wearing a "come at me bro" look on her face that's just priceless.
am totally digging this painting.

Did you know that a movie accidentally used a #painting thought to be lost?
#Art historian Gergely Barki was watching "Stuart Little" when he saw it.
He had only seen a black-and-white photo before but knew at once that the art in one scene was "Sleeping Lady with Black Vase" by #Hungarian Róbert Berény.
A springtime scene that I hope you may enjoy. Our first flush of spring has passed already but it's my second favorite season so I'm dragging it on in my head a bit. LOL (Fall is my favorite).
