We’re at 2/11 operatives complete and just waiting to be based - I am going to be good and hold off and do that all in a batch even though all my instincts say to just do it now, and inevitably forget how I did it 😂.

I still want a Grot .

Grots backpack - there’s a Stanley knife, a yellow grenade, a blanket all on it.
Another front angle of the Grot - it shows a little bit more of the camo pattern.

@rollleafd something like the Grot Revolutionaries would be awesome.

@pidgeon_pete this is exactly what I want. I essentially just want all the Gorkamorka Gretchin re-released and a kill team for them, also partially want them to be crap meta-wise 😂

@pidgeon_pete@mas.to avatar

@rollleafd I've largely stopped playing GW stuff for the moment but if they brought out a new Gorkamorka I'd remortgage my house

rollleafd,
@rollleafd@warhammer.social avatar

@pidgeon_pete few of the old specialist games, eh? Just reprint, release. Mordheim, Gorkamorka, Warmaster. Remortgage my home, start looking up the value of organs etc 😅 I actually both want and live in fear of a Made to Order on some of these.

@rollleafd I always thought they should have split off specialist games as it's own company but under the same parent. That company wouldn't have had the same pressures as the full GW and could have kept all those games alive all this time. It's cool how the community have kept some of the games alive though.

@rollleafd@warhammer.social avatar

@pidgeon_pete That would have been great, but I suppose company has gotta company etc, obviously with all the shames that entails.

Coming back to the hobby was a mixed set of feelings realising those games gone, but then seeing the fan support. I feel for me (Mordheim fan) im really happy with what it is now, it’s a little bit of a relief not to be chasing never ending releases etc, and seeing something like Broheim is just a thing of joy. Entry cost into the game is next to nothing now.

@rollleafd @pidgeon_pete I think the issue with the specialist games is that for a lot of people they are a "one and done" purchase, which is great for the gamers, but doesn't work in a world of share holders demanding year on year profit increases. That's why Necromunda has the constant campaign books coming out and blood bowl is pushing new game modes and teams. GW needs games with repeat purchasing potential to the graphs always go up

rollleafd,
@rollleafd@warhammer.social avatar

@DrunkOnTea @pidgeon_pete damn commercial realities!! 😂 You can really see how they’re model has evolved from the ‘90/‘00s and they’ve grasped what it is that makes the little graphs tick in a way that makes anyone with money in it very content. Essentially what all us nostalgia junkies need to do is buy all the shares and demand the company tanks itself so we can have our specialist games back - minis in metal too, oh and blister packs at the 90s/00s prices 🤣

DrunkOnTea,
@DrunkOnTea@warhammer.social avatar

@rollleafd @pidgeon_pete unfortunately it's the capitalist world we live in, graph must always go up! Maybe we should go a fan buy-out, bring back all the classic games. Luckily, a load of the Middle Earth line is still in metal, so I can get my nostalgia fix with that, and then remember why we moved away from metal.... the chips are so annoying!

rollleafd,
@rollleafd@warhammer.social avatar

@DrunkOnTea I’m sensing too much realism here - saying metal isn’t perfect, and that we live in a capitalist world? Madness! 🤣🤣🤣

Imagine the carnage of a fan buy out of GW. That’d be a good laugh. I’d love to see the stock value graph after that. 😅

DrunkOnTea,
@DrunkOnTea@warhammer.social avatar

@rollleafd the dream would be the ease of building and painting of plastic, but the weight of metal models! I love the feel of metal, especially for hero units, just have chipping it mid painting.

I'd love to see a certain part of the community buy out GW, just because they all seem to think they know how to run a milti-million pound company better than GW do

rollleafd,
@rollleafd@warhammer.social avatar

@DrunkOnTea that’s the dream, something as fun to model and work with as plastic and then that weight minus the issues. I can’t actually imagine how excited I would get at a material like that. 😂

Those are exactly the people I’d love watching at the helm. 🤣🤣🤣

DrunkOnTea,
@DrunkOnTea@warhammer.social avatar

@rollleafd Be right back, I'm going to invent "heavy plastic" the best of both worlds in one product! Find a way to make it out of renewable material and I'll be a millionaire!

pidgeon_pete,
@pidgeon_pete@mas.to avatar

@DrunkOnTea @rollleafd at least as far as rules go it's awesome that they haven't shut anything down (as far as I know). I much prefer games owned by the community so the game system I'm working on is FOSS, or FOSTW, or maybe it's FOSR. Either way it's free and open source licenced. Just has a lot of work to go.

DrunkOnTea,
@DrunkOnTea@warhammer.social avatar

@pidgeon_pete @rollleafd they do seem to be pretty good with letting the community run their "dead" games. They have just shut down Warhammer Armies Project, but that's because the old world is coming out. They didn't even fully shut it down, just said to remove their copyrighted material. For all the "Big Bad Games Workshop" talk, they do seem to be fine with fan projects as long as it doesn't infringe on their active IP's
