Quick question for anyone that may have some insights or opinions. Email newsletters. How do you feel about them? If it's your thing how often do you receive them? Do you tend to read them occasionally or every one (I know that's very subjective)? And if you write one or have written one what platforms would you recommend? I used MailChimp way way back but even then it had issues with being flagged as spam. I am considering creating one for an upcoming project to have more direct communication.

@Artemis201 I guess this would be closer to the crowdfundng project, at least a project that people may want to follow if not fund. I feel like it's convenient too but at the same time I don't subscribe to anything so I might be wrong and it's unpopular.

Spent a little while doing some sketches tonight, trying to figure out shading with different techniques.

I for one will finally be bothering my ass for a change and downloading this ruleset - and discussing with my 3D printer endowed pals. I can only recommend you do the same, everything @pidgeon_pete turns his hands to is a pure joy.

Well done pal on getting this one across the line!

@rollleafd mate far too kind. I appreciate the signal boost on it, I kinda felt run down all week so feel like I limped across the line but some polish and some better promotion materials should lift it up a little.

pidgeon_pete,
@pidgeon_pete@mas.to avatar

@rollleafd thanks though, as creator of the game I reserve the singular right only to see it's flaws. I'm sure after a day or two I'll be back to loving it for what it is. I did get to sit and paint more of the minis today without a deadline stress which was nice.

pidgeon_pete,
@pidgeon_pete@mas.to avatar

@rollleafd for painting? No absolutely the opposite. I've had (admittedly self imposed) deadlines on basically everything I've painted this year and it's kinda sucked. Painting used to be my main hobby so it just got done, I'd luxuriate in it, printed stuff just to keep me in minis, pile of shame? Never heard of it. Now I'm scrambling for time because it's the secondary hobby and finding it hard to paint well at all. I may have made some tweaks to my painting space that will help though.

pidgeon_pete,
@pidgeon_pete@mas.to avatar

@rollleafd a wee bairn is hard on the old hobby for sure, I fondly remember having a whole separate room to hobby and game in. No more lol. I'm a cupboard dweller and it's far from ideal but very good for keeping all the clutter and mess out of my way on a daily basis. I've been standing up to paint for a while and I like that but my recent acquisition is a bar stool for longer sessions and lazier days. My current issue is running out of space for what I'm about to start making.

pidgeon_pete,
@pidgeon_pete@mas.to avatar

@Moah it really is amazing to have the space to spread out but I don't know that I would again for mental health reasons - I need to be able to close away things and have an uncluttered living space. When I bought my first place I didn't think I was ever going to have kids, couldn't stand the idea lol. Then something just changed and voila. Never been particularly well off so I make do and I am happy with that. I think I've posted it before but I think I make very do with my cupboard space

So, I made this game, I may have mentioned it. Well I think it will still need another few play-throughs for further balance and I want to add a quick reference sheet on the last pages it is ready. And I'm nervous to show it... Please check out Rogue Element, it's completely free for everyone.

I'm going to need to make a lot of trees for a gaming table and I'm trying to find the best and cheapest method. I can craft but also filament or resin print but I don't know what is best.

I dislike most of what I've seen so I'm thinking of trying a hybrid approach. I can make or print armatures but I was wondering if I could print single layers thickness branches with leaves to layer up rather than the weird looking clump foliage and lichen methods. Open to suggestions though.

Another wee spot of painting tonight, I might be rushing a little but I've got a deadline not to miss by too much. I probably shouldn't have bought Cyberpunk yesterday but it was on deal and I've been thinking about it for a while...

I've been sketching a lot more lately actually and you've all made me feel more brave to post stuff that's less perfected so here's a bunch more stuff. Some goblins that made me decide to make all goblins Boglins instead. Some attempts to do the same swampy boggy forest in different ways, and some witches (with I don't know what it was meant to be, some kind of animated tree sprite thing maybe)

4 small landscapes. same design, different pens basically
7 witches and a monster

I've been working on the rulebook for Rogue Element, I think I have a wee bug for it tbh and I can't wait to get it actually printed.

Surprised me how fun it was to make the sheet that goes with the game for tracking your campaign progress. Will get it printed and play through another game or two with it to make

Alright wargamey peoples. skirmish peoples, blood bowl peoples, painters of miniatures, builders of weird cool stuff. Show me your blogs. I'm putting together a list on a github so I can make it my homepage. We're doing this like an old school web ring! Boosts appreciated

Play testing Rogue Element today and I think I've figured out where the rules were falling down. There was too much reliance on randomness, now that's balanced with a little push your luck instead. I think I've figured out a way to make it play better as a 2 player too, though it will be inherently asymmetric.

Painted something just for fun and the glory of my hoooouuuussse

Since I know I won't get time to get many done I'm keeping the paint job really simple and just calling out the main stuff. Tried really hard to keep the red in the colours to help them look more cohesive and board gamey when playing.

Half of the clear plastic ghosts box painted up. Knowing how quick and easy they are, I'll smash through the other half of the box when I only have a couple of hours to spare.

Done some drawing tonight, I think I might actually be getting better. 3D modelling gas definitely helped me a lot just sort of figuring out shape. Not entirely but a wee bit. These are for a project I'm cooking up, of which they will be just a small part.

pidgeon_pete,
@pidgeon_pete@mas.to avatar

@Artemis201 they will be minis eventually, well that's the plan there's a lot of planning and thought between here and there.

pidgeon_pete,
@pidgeon_pete@mas.to avatar

@Artemis201 hey, how dare y... Oh you mean the Boglins. Yes, yes they are. Almost as if they'll need someone to keep them right.

@Artemis201 I knew - sorry I was just taking fake offence for yuks.

I think it's time for a miniatures clear out. My hobbying has changed so much just in the last year and I have very limited space for storage. Not sure there's much secondary market for 3D printed stuff but I would be loathe to just destroy anything

Some bits for Rogue Element painted. An operative, some soldiers, and some objectives.

2 small painted miniature generators
