A long time ago I told myself never to work on multiple projects at once. One project at a time. I understand that very soon I will finish porting the Erra: Exordium to consoles and will have to look for a new idea. Does anyone work on multiple game projects at the same time?
I heard that some indie solos have this practice, because one project is psychologically exhausting and they switch their attention to another, but I think it's terrible
I wonder what delights are on these disks! These arrived with me at the weekend from a game programmer who coded specifically for the #SAMCoupe in the mid-1990s.
The latest version of my retro texture pack is now available. That's 300 high-quality, low-resolution textures, for just $5! They take heavy inspiration from #retrofps games like #doom and #quake#pixelart#gamedev
My wife @sabcatsilver, a psychology student, created a card game that helps therapists (and people) talk about grief, end of life care, and perspectives on life.
I am soooooo proud of her!! Currently it’s a prototype for class, but she may publish it in the future. Thanks to folks who helped on Mastodon! We got it printed on GameCrafter
omg i didnt know i still had these. all through the 90’s, into the early 2000’s, i was an avid PC Gamer fan (big influence on me wanting to make games). they all had these demo CD’s with latest coolest games. turns out i kept most of them! like 51 CD’s worth of super old games 🤯

So the Dragonsplague mechanic in Dragons Dogma 2 is invisible, (I think) progressive, transmissible between pawns, and can only be cured by killing the pawn
Which leads to a logical conclusion: at the first sign of disobedience, I throw my entire party off the tallest bridge into the ocean #Games#GameDev
I'm colour blind, but I've always wanted to have a go at pixel art. Thought of a challenge for myself to draw random D&D monsters in a 4 colour palette. This is a Shrieker - a plant that screams when a bright light or creature is close.
Okay since this worked really well last time, I have another request for advice. I currently focus on #Unity and try to get as good as it in as many areas as possible in the time I have. The reason for that is that I got a job where I could learn it and get paid for it. Now when looking at job offerings I find larger companies seem to prefer #Unreal. Do I assume correctly that I need to chose one and will then kinda be stuck with it? I don't have time to learn two engines. #gamedev#jobs
GameDev problem: the music in our WebGL game on itch.io won't start until the user clicks in the window. Unity claims this is a browser limitation (no autoplay):
... but the user has already clicked to load and launch the game, so it seems there should be no reason to require another click. I know I've seen WebGL games on itch that don't have this problem.
My 9-year-old son just experienced what every game developer feels. Crying 😂
In Scratch, he was making a game, but accidentally deleted the sprite behind which the code, which he had been creating for a very long time. And he closed the project without returning this action. Lost the code and keeps crying. It is sad and joyful, this is #gamedev experience baby 👽
