Episode 63

Marta in her mustard yellow dress and beige overcoat with a brown fur collar. Fina in her typical work uniform with the hideous pastel pink lipstick. The mood is extremely sad and hopeless. Marta has just outlined all that’s stacked against them and began suggesting she isn’t sure she can survive on crumbs and she doesn’t think it’s fair to ask Fina to stand it. Marta feels like they’re running out of options to make it possible for them to live this love they share - the odds keep stacking impossibly against them. Occasionally Marta reaches for Fina and cradles her face in her hands as if to look deeper into her eyes. It’s a heartbreaking scene as Fina keeps saying “no” as Marta grows more and more despondent about their relationship. Dialogue translation from this clip: M: What love can survive all that? [living on crumbs, brushing hands and sharing stolen moments whenever her husband isn’t around] F: Ours can, Marta. Because I love you above all else. M: And I you. I love you. That’s why I think I can’t be so selfish. I should leave you an open door so that you won’t suffer. You could still meet a woman you like - who can live all of this love without so many complications. F: I can wait for you to be free. I was just informed that a popular edit-maker on Twitter posted a faked video of Fina and Marta with a voiceover AI composition of Marta Belmonte’s voice (the actor who plays Marta de la Reina in #SueñosDeLibertad)

Shameful.

I hold the sapphic fanbase to a higher standard than the rest of the twitter idiots because, though I’ve permanently left twitter, I know many of the folks who stayed.

They should know better than to violate someone’s personhood this way, even if it’s for “entertainment.”

Fina goes back to work in the shop and Jaime shows up again at the most annoying moment to thank her again for saving his wife, the “most important thing” in his life.

Claudia, who is also standing there, is the only one who thinks it’s sweet - Fina and Marta look like they’re gonna vomit.

Lots of men talking to each other blah blah. Jaime proposes to Damián that they expand the clinic in order to keep Luz employed. Honestly, too much Jaime in this episode -.-

In a bout of gay… reality, Marta comes to Fina at the end of her shift.

She tries to apologize for Jaime making her uncomfortable, but Fina insists although she is uneasy about Marta having to play out her wifely role, she feels like Jaime is their problem together, not just something for Marta to deal with on her own.

It’s fucking sad, y’all.

Marta tells Fina she doesn’t like how unfair this is that Fina is actually the one who is alone in all this.

Fina says this conversation is starting to sound like Marta wants them to forget their relationship.

Same setting as previous photo. Side shot of Marta who is wearing the same overcoat as the other photo with Jaime, so the scenes might be close in proximity. Presumably Jaime is not there any longer because Fina is nose to nose in front of Marta now and grasping Marta’s face in her trademark chin-holding adoration pose. Both are smiling broadly and leaning close as if about to kiss (which they do, as seen in other photos but the picture quality isn’t as good so I’m not posting them) What could have prompted such a massive shift in these women’s careful attention to hiding their relationship? Jaime was just there. They’re in the shop where anyone could walk in. Danger. I want to know what’s happening!!!!

405 Error: Heterosexuality Not Found

Luz (Dra Falsa) and Begoña from Sueños de Libertad The two women are stood facing each other and leaning in. Luz says she will miss Begoña and Begoña says she’ll miss her too and leans in to kiss Luz on the cheek as she pulls her into a very prolonged embrace. They pull away from the hug and Luz is distraught and her shifting body language and slight tearing up makes Begoña say “I’ve never seen you like this.” Luz replies with something suggesting people must all have the wrong idea about her. The implied topic is her typically stoic response to things that suddenly has gone missing with a moment of raw emotion between the two of them. But I choose to believe “everyone has the wrong idea about me” to mean people thinks she’s straight but………..

two women embracing and being affectionate - historians would say they’re good friends Luz is a shorter woman with shoulder length dark hair and a neckerchief (I had to ask two other people what this thing is called) idk it’s cute, kind of Parisian or like a sailor might wear. Facing her is Begoña who is taller but with similar length light brown hair. She has her arms outstretched toward Luz and is stroking her shoulders and upper arms as she speaks to her “Luz, listen to me. Listen. I know you’ve seen things in my husband that you don’t approve of at all. I have also seen them” The moment is intimate and Luz is gently smiling as if in appreciation. The two women a have recently reconciled after a disagreement because Luz was critical of Begoña’s husband (rightly so, he’s a whole jackass and a half). Now Luz is leaving town because Begoña’s father in law is giving Luz’s job to Begoña’s brother in law. It’s messed up and the two women feel powerless to stop it. So they embrace each other and Begoña even kisses Luz warmly on the cheek at one point. I’m gay so I can “see” homosexual behavior in almost anything. But this is definitively gay, ladies.

No scenes of Fina and Marta together today.

Fina visited the reformatory to hear an apology from the butter knife boy who stabbed her.

She initially tells him she can’t forgive him because although the stab wound will heal, she is still afraid all the time and can’t sleep. Sure turns with a pensive glance back at him as she walks away.

Later she visits Don Damián in his office and asks him to drop the charges against the butter knife boy. He reluctantly agrees.

Same scene with Fina now looking back over her shoulder with a more thoughtful look. Her hair has blown back out of her face boss and it’s even more evident how the makeup team isn’t doing a good job of un-beautifying a pretty woman. They probably aren’t trying.
