Paris has banned cars on more than 100 streets, increased parking fees for SUVs, and created 1,300 km of bike lanes under Mayor Anne Hidalgo.

Changes designed to encourage people to take other forms of transportation have contributed to a 40% decline in air pollution, according to city officials.

Anyone using and ?
I've spent some time creating an integration that mirrors the shopping lists and also creates a read-only calendar of the meal plan. Beta so things may break but if anyone wants to try it feedback is most appreciated.

Someone who knows and ML: is there a writeup somewhere explaining how first-class modules (a la ML) can do similar things to Haskell type classes? I'm finding it hard to figure that out.

To give a more concrete case: suppose I wanted to write something like Control.Applicative, which provides an 'interface' Applicative with some methods, as well as functions that work for any Applicative. How would I do this with ML-style first-class modules?

Everyone lucid in the West is freaking out about the rise of fascist thinking, well, everywhere.

Why? Didn't we defeat this obscenity 80 years ago after much suffering? Why is it resurging?

The problem is not that people don't learn from history (they don't but it's another issue), the problem is that fascism is always with us. Since the dawn of time, and forever more.

All fascism requires is:

  1. ignorance
  2. indecency
  3. a demagogue to yoke these walnut brains and ride them to power

@benroyce Someone had a nice take. From memory: tolerance isn't a moral stance, it's a social contract. Tolerance is conditional. If you don't offer it to others, you don't get to demand it for yourself.

Granted, it's possible to be too aggressive here.

That casual misogynist might just need a little talking to. While a hardcore reaction might backfire.

And WWIII right up front over a minor land disagreement... yeah, no.

So again, Karl Popper:

"I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be most unwise."

A heartbreaking moment that was saved by an SS photographer at Auschwitz II-Birkenau during the deportations of Hungarian Jews. It was taken 80 years ago, most likely in late May 1944. A little child finds a dandelion in the grass and is handing it or showing it to an older boy.

#ColoristTip: Set up your nodes/corrections following a similar node structure that you don't have to search for where a certain adjustment happens.

This also makes it possible to ripple just changes to other shots and helps when handing over a project.

Alright nerds, I have a question. I would like to set up a standard way to get a derived value back from a number of sensors; for example, given a sensor’s PM2.5, PM10, Ozone, CO, SO2, and/or NO2 reading, I would like to return an estimated air quality index (AQI). Ideally I could also have a standard way to map any given AQI value to a category string, e.g. 10 = Good, 75 = Moderate, 175 = Unhealthy, etc.

Thought for the day: Frank Zappa was a genius and understood exactly the role that rock music played in enabling young people to transgress the socio-sexual mores of society at that time. There are many Zappa videos on YouTube. Please take a look. From his very first appearance on American TV he disrupted convention thinking. People laughed because he was an odd ball, comic relief, but what he did was open minds to what is musically possible. Let me know if you agree!
