Aaand here we go again. A month into new project. #FCPX stops creating new snapshots. I go "Duplicate as snapshot" as always, and absolutely nothing happens. #bugmagnet

When we bought this Ikea Hållbar litter bin I instantly knew that it's only a matter of time before one of us throws the inner frame together with the bin content to the garbage.
And on last friday I fulfilled my own prophecy.
Luckily I found out there already is a model ready to , so I don't have to do it myself.

@stepan many trashcans are curiously badly designed. Many metal ones have inner "lips" (from bent metal) so thick it's almost impossible to get the bag out without tearing. Or are made from weirdly adhesive materials with the same problem.

@reillypascal you can get a good used 3D printer for like $50 now :)

I think that tools like Canva can have opposite effect than intended: there's so much stuff, templates and everything, that it creates so much decision paralysis it stops work short.

Fallout 76 is so broken it doesn't accept my bethesda.net credentials. I can log into these into that website just fine. Not into the game though.

stooovie,
@stooovie@mas.to avatar

Jesus Christ, it won't let you log in if you started the game on a different platform. I do get that not all games have cross-save support, BUT HOW ABOUT YOU FUCKING JUST TELL ME?

Anyone with the #Biqu H2 V2S? I love it but I don't understand how is the tensioner screw is supposed to work.

What does the screw do? What is supposed to do the actual compression of the spring? It doesn't seem to do anything at all. The screw moves up and down when screwing but no compression of the spring is taking place.

#3Dprinting

stooovie,
@stooovie@mas.to avatar

@mfraz74 it wouldn't! That's what I thought at first - I have a reddit thread about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/BIGTREETECH/s/dewXKnsB8T

But even like that it doesn't do anything at all.

stooovie,
@stooovie@mas.to avatar

There are these two possible placements of the screw. Everyone says #2 is correct (I thoughts so too), but neither have any influence on the spring whatsoever.

stooovie,
@stooovie@mas.to avatar

It was assembled wrong from the factory (the screw was not lodged inside the shell), and I guess after my reassembling it, I didn't screw it tight enough for the nut not to turn. It looks like it's working now.

Spending my Friday trying to create a automation that dynamically adjusts the Daikin set point with the goal of maintaining a constant temperature on an external temperature sensor.

The built-in thermostat cools 2C below target and heats 7C above target. Trash.

I'm using templates for most of it and a while cycle. Used the Solar Excess Charging automation as an example.

This has the advantage of still using the Daikin's variable compressor

stooovie,
@stooovie@mas.to avatar

@motoridersd i think with AC there should be a process like PID tuning on 3D printers - to dial in what is needed to reach a certain temperature. Some sort of machine learning.

stooovie,
@stooovie@mas.to avatar

@motoridersd huh, there actually are? I didn't know that :)

discovering that fewer cybertrucks have been sold than Sinclair C5s has amused me greatly. and honestly, if you want to drive a weird vehicle, the C5 is far more fun.

PSA: Resolve Studio requires the USB drive to remain plugged in and will check every few seconds for its presence.

@DrewNaylor since when?

@DrewNaylor I'm still on 18.1 and didn't have to have the key plugged in, let's see :)

stooovie,

@DrewNaylor hmm, I installed and opened 18.6.6 (closed and re-opened to make sure) and it does not require the USB key from me. And yes it is the full Studio.

@DrewNaylor I'm on Mac, yeah. When I get to my Windows machine, I can recheck.

Oh my lord. Gruber is really doubling down on his defence of Facebook using the argument of "how dare you tell me I have to stop robbing banks? How else can I preserve these profits?". Along with a sprinkle of not understanding that the DMS only applies to large dominant companies.

Did anyone write a good rebuttal to this yet? I need something to clean the bad taste from my mouth.

stooovie,
@stooovie@mas.to avatar

@ianbetteridge @tfb @loke Gruber will just say whatever conforms with the sentiment du jour. I stopped following his stuff altogether.
