Had a draining week, mind was fried... Finally found two hours of flow Sunday evening! Used it to generate lots and lots of small rectangles. Loosely inspired by Aiyu's 'Memory Flow' on fx(hash).
Or is it Voyager's hull plating after a particularly rough patch in the Delta Quadrant?
โWhat is the point of having power," she says, "if you will not use it to stop crimes against humanity?โ
Jewish Presidential appointee Lily Greenberg Call resigned in protest at its refusal to stop arming Israel. It's an astonishing letter.
Update: a few minutes after tweeting this, her X account was suspended ๐คจ
What states and the EU ought to do - facilitate cross border travel in a green way - theyโre abjectly failing to do (see todayโs SNCF (state owned railway) saga)
What theyโre instead doing is racist passenger profiling and eroding #Schengen (Bundespolizei controlling anyone with dark skin at Offenburg)
@jon I also had a weird experience last year. I was on a train from Austria to Italy, passing through Slovenia.
As I was heading out a Roma woman was being controlled by two policemen, one from Italy other from Germany. She spoke in German with the German officer, and showed her papers on the phone. The German officer told she was good to go. But the Italian one told she need a physical document to enter Italy. So she had to leave the train.
What I found weird is that:
She was the only one checked, Roma, BIPoC.
Two policemen, from different countries, has different opinions.
@EU_Commission If you care so much about the fediverse, you could at least add a link in your website pointing to here. To show the world that we exist.
Second you can confirm your profile as authentic.
The thing I am most interested in is time travel. I would be real interested in connecting with people on mastodon that have same interests ๐๐พ
I tried writing a book last year but lost interest. Need more inspiration ๐๐ฟ #TimeTravelAuthors
@Jaden3 if you like retro rpg turn based games you should play Chrono Trigger. It's all about time traveling
One of my favourite video games of all time.
Emily Dische-Becker's research on the targets of #Germany's anti-BDS campaign found that around 1/3 of those de-platformed for their support of #Palestine are #Jewish, with 2/3 being mostly Arab and Muslim.
I moved to #Berlin in 2011, at a time when I was quite successful for my age, having won several high-profile awards for my work, and I was making around $70k/year -- a lot for Berlin, and especially for a 23 year old. Then in 2012 I first traveled to Palestine to participate in the solidarity movement there, and after that my conviction in #BDS skyrocketed and it became the focal point of my non-commercial work.
I quickly started to experience the backlash, and gradually became more and more unwelcome in the arts, hacker and intellectual scenes I would frequent, where I was discovering that various people (mostly Germans) had said that I'm an antisemite... everywhere except the Berlin techno scene to be perfectly honest. By the time I left in 2016 I was a proper outcast and was just barely making enough to pay rent.
My commitment to Palestine has only deepened, because the crimes Israel commits against Palestinians daily, for 75+ years before October 7th, aren't just wrong, they are simply unspeakable. I now make only $10K/year, can't even land a job interview, and have to rely totally on word of mouth to find work, so I think its fair to count me among the #Jews who have suffered Germany's ire. But I guess my family did too, so I'm just keeping up the tradition.

Quick note to say I have spent a whole year now on mastodon, having loads of rewarding conversations with so many lovely and interesting people. Thanks for reading โค๏ธ
With our partners, we are delivering essential supplies in Gaza.
We have:
๐น tripled our humanitarian assistance to โฌ78 million;
๐น called for humanitarian access and aid to those in need;
๐น launched a Humanitarian Air Bridge operation
8 EU funded flights have already reached Egypt and delivered over 372 tonnes of aid provided by partners for civilians in need.
We must work together to intensify our efforts to deal with the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
@EU_Commission What about pressuring Israel for a ceasefire?
Spending money to send aids is good, but only when the people receiving the aids are actually alive.
Public Service DW's coverage of protest in Berlin https://www.dw.com/en/thousands-of-pro-palestinian-protesters-rally-in-berlin/video-67306353 against war in Palestine could be used as an example in journalism courses of reporting actively hostile against the covered subject, an example of what grossly unprofessional behavior editorial staff and reporters must be fired for.
If you can't do your journalism job due to personal politics, you must recuse yourself from from affected coverage.
@b9AcE Yes. I am very disappointed with DW in this topic. I also find that they usually do good journalism, adopting a neutral tone and focusing on facts. But in the Israel issue, they are nit being neutral (very aligned to what the German government is doing). Which is very worrying for me, being a BIPoC foreigner here in Germany.
I will check out Indymedia, I think my german is good enough to follow their news. Thanks for the recommendation.
