@thomasfuchs I have heard that the Delorean dmc-12 had a similar issue. (You never want to have your Delorean outside in the rain.) It's been 43 years since then, though.

Fun fact: The dmc-12 was made with food-grade stainless steel so the company told owners that the only way to clean it was with gasoline.

I started to talk to a cashier person today and they were like so happy that I acted like they existed. I know that sounds really weird. But I was like wow how much they just stand there and are like this robot just sliding items across and taking your money. We forget human beings are human beings. I'd like to have a grocery store of grandmas you just talk to about their stories as they give you recipes.

@CindyWeinstein @sarahjeannebrowne One of the Metro Market (a Kroger sub-brand) locations near me had this exact thing. As soon as they drove the local grocery store down the street out of business, they replaced all checkout lanes with "self-service".

I would love to see more American governments and news publications use #Mastodon. I think that it is more likely that we are going to see them use threads, though. As long as #Threads follows through with their promise to implement activitypub, they will be part of the #Fediverse.

I've spent months populating @steinbring, writing meaningful descriptions, and building collections. Around 2016/2017, I started doing the same with https://photos.jws.app when I realized that using #Flickr or #500px would be unsustainable. It wasn't anywhere near as good, though.

I just updated https://jws.dev: I added my "Vue Offline Boilerplate" to the projects page

I wrote this app as a common "starter app" for 2-3 other apps that I have kicking around in my head. It uses:

  • Vue 3 and the Composition API
  • Pinia
  • The vite-plugin-pwa plugin
  • Firebase Authentication
  • Firebase Cloud Firestore
  • Bulma
  • Gravatar (for a fall-back profile icon option)

This app will probably remain in a private GitHub repo but its offspring will likely be public.
