Spring is here and trilliums are emerging! Here’s a charcoal sketch I made a few years ago of trilliums, fiddleheads and a few morels hiding out surreptitiously, as morels do : )

2 days ago, I didn't know Stanley tools was making mugs that were all the rage. Now I see them everywhere. It's a pretty bizarre trend because they weigh about 400 lbs, empty

Okay, after the heavy question this morning, I think we need something silly, so three questions, answer all, one, or none:

What is the best, worst, and/or funniest pet name you've heard?

StudioCaroline,

@RickiTarr just after college I inherited a cat called Girly Sue

Here's something I've been thinking about lately:

Does society need psychopathic behavior? Does it exist for a Social or Natural Evolutionary purpose?

I have edited the questions somewhat to emphasize behavior and not a person themselves.

StudioCaroline,

@RickiTarr there’s a school of thought that psychopathy isn’t a single neurotype but a spectrum of traits: disinhibition–impulsiveness, irresponsibility, difficulty regulating emotions & behavior, & mistrust of others; meanness–empathy deficits, contempt/reduced bonding with others, & predatory exploitativeness; & boldness–dominance, social assurance, emotional resilience, & adventurousness. Some of these traits are necessary for a functioning society.

Your grief for what you've lost lifts a mirror
up to where you are bravely working.

Expecting the worst, you look, and instead,
here's the joyful face you've been wanting to see.

Your hand opens and closes and opens and closes.
If it were always a fist or always stretched open,
you would be paralysed.

Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expanding,
the two as beautifully balanced and coordinated
as birdwings..

My dad is dying after a long dance with dementia. I’m here at his bedside as he struggles to breathe. We were never particularly religious, but he did ask for prayers when his illness began. If any of you out there in the fediverse would please send up a prayer that my father, Andrew, be free of suffering and anxiety, we would be so grateful.

StudioCaroline,

@thepoliticalcat thank you 💛

Alright. Gonna write a piece on the impact of users on our culture in the

So let’s start with a poll. Boost please!

Are you neurodivergent?

(Self-diagnosis is valid, I know how freaking hard it can be to get the official one!)

@actuallyautistic

SECOND POLL WITH MORE TYPES OF NEURODIVERGENCE: https://hachyderm.io/@mariyadelano/110753113559931102

StudioCaroline,

@mariyadelano @actuallyautistic oh I didn’t see your comment acknowledging other neurodivergencies and to leave in comments. Bipolar, ADHD, & OCD (dermatillomania)

StudioCaroline,

@mariyadelano oh also CPTSD. I’m very interested in the overlap between PTSD and other neurodivergencies

Wildflower update: Centaurea is making its move for bed domination, but Monarda and Coreopsis are standing their ground. Papaver, the old guard of spring, is beginning to stand aside

@ryanhoulihan happy birthday! 🎊🎈🎂

StudioCaroline, to gardening

I was recently looking for this website with drawings of the root systems of >1800 plants (I’m interested in getting better plant guilds established in some areas of my perennial garden). Here it is:

HAPPY ART SHOW SUNDAY!

Drop a picture, video, link or toot of something you've created, anything goes, let me see your passion.

If you ask me what I came to do in this world, I, an artist, will answer you: I am here to live out loud.

From me: A sketch of a pretty intense muscular bull, and a picture of an old hydroelectric station, I thought turned out pretty well.

I’ve been seed saving and keeping this lovely pale “blue” sweet pea going for seven or eight years now. It doesn’t get many blossoms per stem but the color is so heavenly and strong fragrance too that my neighbor swears smells like blueberries.

There’s also a particular peachy colored nasturtium that I seed-save and grow with it which I’ll post below; the colors really talk to each other

StudioCaroline,

2/2 And here they are. Those colors are whispering sweet loving nothings to each other!

I think it’s time for me to switch servers. I want something that’s not in bed with meta, has stability and that won’t cut me off from a bunch of other servers bc I want to maintain connections to my mutuals as much as possible. (I am not tech savvy, I may not even properly know exactly what I’m talking about with the above parameters )
Any thoughts/advice y’all can share?

StudioCaroline,

@heyfluxay what ultimately brought you to rest at retro.pizza?
