Finally got my birthday present! A giant caramel apple from Kilwins!
TIL that caramel apples were first invented in the 1950s! Can you imagine living your whole life, then dying in the 1940s and therefore NEVER experiencing a caramel apple? I shudder to think.
@msquebanh Farmington, where this incident occurred, is in one of the more “red” counties in Nee Mexico. At the same time, the county includes part of the Navajo Nation and has a great many Native residents, so you’d like to think they’d already had some awareness of Native cultures.
I have some #GenZ coworkers and was telling them about how we used to take our car stereo face plates with us when we left the car back in the days when stereos weren't integrated into the dash and you wanted a nice one.
I just made a giant batch of chilli purely to use all the tins of beans, and fridge veggies... but I had no Kidney Beans just Cannellini Beans, so is it even a chilli any more?
@andycarolan Still chili! When I was still an omnivore, I did make a chili recipe with chicken and cannellini beans. I think it also used poblano chile peppers. So the point is that it’s fine to use whatever beans you have!
@renwillis@itty53 Having spent a few years in retail in the past, I agree with you 100%. I just wish that Target and other big corporations would stand up against this sort of nonsense, but they won't. And yes, it definitely emboldens the bigots.
@andycarolan Have that same issue with one of the banks I do business with. They keep doing this even though I use the exact same devices to log in as I always have. Irritating!
@skinnylatte My own observation would be that there is definitely racism in California (SF included, of course). However, it's usually nowhere near as in your face and blatant as this situation. People are a lot more sneaky about it.
