Things have been hectic at home. Tonight was my first run in a week and just the second in two weeks. Both terrible outings. My legs were so dead I couldn’t continue. Super frustrated and down. #Running
Being a touch unwell is no excuse -- so I'm hitting the pavements again as I (somewhat painfully) plough through 100km to raise funds for MS research. Read the latest blog update and donate TODAY!

I mentioned a few weeks back that I'm participating in the SickKids Foundation #fundraising activity for May, called 1001 reasons to run. People have been really generous and I'm so grateful!
❝Trying to do as best as I can, is all there is to do. After all, I’m the only one here putting this pressure on me. And probably also the only one judging here.

I went to the gym today where I did Nordic curls, goblet squats, kettlebell stuff, and running.
I’m always worried about the running. I used to race regularly, mostly cross country, but also mountain races and obstacle course races. Since hormonal changes knocked me for a loop, running has been extra hard. I have hypermobility, which means that I have to rely on a lot of muscular endurance because my toes and Achilles tendons are loose and floppy. Until I have all those muscles built up, running often results in pain in my toes and along the top of my foot.
I’d really like to be able to run regularly again. I miss being able to do 10km mountain courses. I really really REALLY hope the air quality, temperature, and my health conspire to let me do this again. If I can run again, it’s better for us all. It means the country isn’t on fire again.
I had a dream last night that I was at 40k in the marathon & I felt great and it was going really well, so I’m taking that as a sign ;-) 11 days until #ottawaraceweekend
La saison des feux commence et l'été devrait battre tous les records de chaleur. J'ai pensé acheter un masque pour courir. Et je m'enlignais vers le Respro Ultra-light. Avez-vous déjà couru avec un tel masque ? Est-ce supportable ?
Wednesday:
93 seconds of plank
11 minutes of yoga for runners
11 and 20 minutes of HIIT
20 minutes of strength training
6.2 km of #running (11°C, light rain, with 17km/hr wind)
Accidentally picked a 10 minute HITT when I meant a 30 minute… so I did two, both of which were hard. 🤣
My running heart rate is up (~146 this run vs ~125-130). I think it’s the workouts beforehand and not completely recovering before the run.
Light rain was nice. I don't mind getting wet. It's like free cooling.
A lazy day - too much maintenance today to go far but lovely though. Out along the Teviot, up to Minto and then back via the old station at Hassendean. 8.5k, tarmac/ Not a vehicle on the road.
The station was converted into a house, as were the old railway cottages. The owner is a leading Borders Railway restoration campaigner.
Bullocks are still lively and have a tendency to dash up and down their fields, scattering sheep and lambs as they career
I'd love to take up #running. My problem is that cardio makes me hyperventilate because I have zero control of my breathing. I've tried in through the nose, out through the mouth, but it always feels like I am not actually getting air.
At the gym, I do 5 minutes on the stair master and I swear the whole gym can hear me sucking all the air out of the room after about a minute and a half.
I have picked up an injury since yesterday’s run, although I’m doing better today already. It’s in the tendons of my right knee and I’m also wondering if I did not cause it myself by stretching too hard.
