Ran with the Collie (12k, concrete road, some track) and then returned to take my mums elderly terrier for her 2k walk. Clearly the pair of them have had a disagreement overnight. They still are not talking after breakfast.
Awful run. Humid ++ and none of my body parts wanted to work together. Dead legs, lungs that couldn’t keep up with such a slow pace, and profuse sweating that couldn’t evaporate. Had to walk often to keep my HR down.
It’s fine. I’m not happy about it, but the next one will be better. Mentally crumple this one up and throw it away. Big fat whatever… #Running
Finished “What I Talk About When I Talk About Running” by Haruki Murakami. Heavily recommend by my friends in #Running & justifiably so because it’s absolutely brilliant.
For me, Murakami’s writing on the mental aspects of running surfaced so many latent thoughts I had but hadn’t yet been able to articulate.
It’s also a treatise on aging and decline, as he copes with his diminishing performances. 5/5 stars
I have 1 rule when it comes to weather. You can only "hate" 1 season. If you hate 2 seasons or more, then you probably should consider relocating.
I really hate summer. Hot, sweaty, sun burning off your skin. Even in the morning, that morning run... not enough white reflective layers in the world.
On the plus side, it did inspire the song "Chasing Shadows"!
Tuesday:
84 seconds of plank,
Walked @TAV and Sprocket to the dock in the park
7.54km of #running (20°C, with a Humidex of 24°C)
11 minutes Yoga for runners
20 minutes of HIIT
20 minutes Strength training
10 minutes Mindful Cooldown
Changed the order today as it's already oppressively hot out for me. I’m wrecked by the end of the workouts. Starting with the running really burns me out.
This week trying two days running, one cycling (tomorrow), and two more running. 🤞🏻 #AppleFitness#Ottawa
Ok, who recognizes themselves as a "lung-gom-pa"? 😃 .
Let me start. I have been there for many years. Training was an easy way to sedate myself.
How about you?
Needing to get out and lose the troubles for a couple of hours we ran past Harestanes and up to the Waterloo memorial, road and tracks, woods and open road, 18.5k and warm.
BUT, with St Mary's dairy on the way home, we paused to grab one of their freshly made and superlative honeycomb ice creams.
That is my pot stirring done for the morning. Now to get out with the dug for a longish (26k run) before it gets too hot. I always find it remarkable and refreshing that I can say that in Scotland - even in June!
Wet, wet, wet. At one point during the run I wanted to jump over a branch lying across the path in the woods. Unfortunately, the ground was so soggy, my left foot which was pushing me off the ground just slipped back. My right foot got tangled up in the branch. A second later I found myself lying flat on the floor. Yuck! Apart from that it was a good run. After Trump‘s conviction in NY yesterday, I skipped my audiobook and took a dive into my MSNBC podcasts. #Running#applewatchultra2#rain
May month is in the books: 510km and 10630m of EG including the Rennsteiglauf 74km race last weekend. Happy and satisfied how the race and the month turned out.
Realized that I passed 2500km and 55000m of EG for the year.
As in many other areas in Europe, it was really pouring down here in the mountains today and I wasn't sure if I should venture out 🌧️🌧️🌧️ But in the end I took advantage of a brief rain-free slot and ran my usual 15km/600m EG
The small streams in the forest have a lot more water than normal and even my Salomon GoreTex shoes were completely wet by the end. But it was absolutely perfect for #running at around 10°C
Change of plans today. Hoped to be able to sneak out and back in before the 🌩️🌩️🌩️ and visit my favorite trail hills. But as I leave the house I see the dark clouds and make the immediate decision to stay on the neighborhood hill for some scrambling and speed hiking. In case I need to “evacuate rapidly” (don’t want to be on the trails with lightning). Managed to do 5km and 324m of EG before I saw a few⚡️not too far away. #trailrunning#running#meteorology
I knew that running the morning after circuit training wasn't such a good idea.
This week brought a lot more NEET than usual. As a result my training involved fewer sessions too, though I didn't skip circuit training yesterday evening.
So I set out for a long run, because I didn't run on Tuesday and I won't have time on Sunday either, but I couldn't even reach 8 km before my legs and my mind gave up.
