Good morning fellow Mastos and hello to Thursday. Hope you slept well. I was kept awake by the rain last night, which is annoying. However MrsD got up early and has taken Wesley out for wander, so I got a lie in.

We can't afford to buy a #car until the old one is beyond repair. Affordable #electricvehicles & the extra for a #car #chargingpoint aren't available. Choice is for the wealthy.
It's not the only issue though. #Electricity for them isn't green & batteries are #toxic & exploiting miners in #DevelopingCoutries. Are we being pushed out of the #climate frying pan & into a #pollution fire? There are solutions but #Governments need to fund them not #oil & #gas production.

Morning stroll.

Ran with the Collie (12k, concrete road, some track) and then returned to take my mums elderly terrier for her 2k walk. Clearly the pair of them have had a disagreement overnight. They still are not talking after breakfast.

#AI is already getting out-of-hand. There's plenty of #performers, #artists & #musicians who couldn't afford to go to #court.
Using you to #teach #ArtificialIntelligence is appearing in #smallprint in a variety of places e.g. when you use a #chatbot for #customerservices. It isn't going to end well.

Pandering to a lack of tenacity in society has become acceptable. Not universal as those with cancer & chronic illness show great determination. However, when it comes to supporting those suffering in #wars & public #health we read "does the #public still have the appetite for" &
"#pandemic fatigue" & there's acceptance of giving up or not bothering.
If those who went through #WWll had done this en masse many of us would never have been born. Has shared #survival instinct been lost?

You can be #fined for running your #car #engine to clear the #windscreen. I understand the #emission implications. How do you defog? I wipe the inside of the #glass but it has #fogged again before I turn the #ignition. I won't #drive with a #foggy view, anyway it isn't #legal. #Rules are made but no practical alternatives are offered. Like limiting old #cars but not improving #publictransport. #Affordable #EnvironmentallyFriendly solutions are needed or change can't happen.

A question to start today: Why is constructing the building on the left be VAT-free, while renovating the historic building on the right and converting it to a new purpose is not? To me, this is completely the wrong way round and such tax rules are undoubtedly contributing to what seems to be the rapidly-accelerating loss of our built heritage.

We need a new #mattress, having got almost 2 decades out of the current one. What is the point in #bed #shops #selling online things you can't try in the #store? Today we were told (#instore) that "that one is #online only". If we can't test it out for 5 minutes we can't buy it. Do people really buy something that needs to last 5-years plus without even touching one? Haven't got the time or patience to risk a #returnable one.

Calling the company #novonordisk is useless. They'll only parrot that they have no stock & won't even say if it's being #manufactured. Being evasive suggest their focus is something more #profitable. #BigPharma #GLP1 #NHS #health
