Did you ever use a niche distribution as your main operating system for three months or longer?
If yes, which one?
Mine was #Trisquel - a #Ubuntu fork with only free (as in freedom) software
I think I used Trisquel 7 and 8 almost daily for about two years on a Dell Precision with i5 CPU
It ran pretty well on it (replacing the Broadcom wifi card with an Atheros one was pretty easy) and I could do all I wanted to do, but that wasn't much more than web browsing, listening to music, etc.
Currently deciding which #Linux distro to install besides #Windows on my laptop. I want to switch back to Linux for #programming (had to switch to Windows for work). I have used #Ubuntu and #LinuxMint in the past. Any suggestions?
Non riesco a configurare il server integrato di eclipse PHP su ubuntu based. Quando aggiungo un modulo e ne faccio il publish non viene copiato tutto il contenuto nella tmp del plugin, non permettendomi di testare gli script. Viene copiata solo la cartella di root del modulo, ma resta vuota. Non capisco dove sbaglio.

Hi all. Hoping there are some #blind#linux users out there that can help me out. I'm using an old computer, not the one I mentioned in my previous posts, but a different one, and #Orca isn't speaking. I originally installed #Ubuntu Mate, but Orca was freezing a lot, so I switched my #DesktopEnvironment to #KDEPlasma. It seemed like a lot of things were inaccessible, though, so I decided to try #Gnome. I installed Gnome, chose GDM as the display manager, and restarted the computer. Now, Orca works on the login screen but nowhere else. It seems to be running, and when I run "orca --replace" in the terminal, I get an error about something only working with X11. I've been able to tell that by scanning the screen with #SeeingAI on my #iPhone. I need to get Orca up and running again so I can use my computer. What's the best way to do this, preferably without sighted help, as my mom and stepdad aren't good with #technology. #accessibility#tech@mastoblind@main
Jumped through the hoops to get #Steam family sharing set up so I can share games with my husband (and someday the kids). Looking like I will soon be seeing if I can get Death Stranding working on #Ubuntu. 🤔😁
I, for one, would like not to having to think about my OS much. Just knowing that it's FOSS, and get sh*t done. So here I am, mostly stuck on #Ubuntu for dev work because reasons, and not a day I don't read someone telling us it's bad and we shouldn't use it. It's a bit tiring and I've got enough on my head to consider a switch ATM. So note to myself: keep using whatever works for me while I don't have to compromise personal values, and thus become:
Anyone know how long it usually is between a release going GA and do-release-upgrade seeing it? #ubuntu Seems odd that I could download and burn the iso and do an upgrade with that, but can't do it from within the system yet.
