Additionally, I would argue that it is an ethical responsibility to note that these vehicles are not capable of “driving themselves”, at the very least.
The #SystemsSafety community has spent years publishing open content on these matters.
Now hold on a second. I don't like Musk, and I think Tesla needs to get its shit together with regard to product safety and company culture where apparently people are told to keep a lid on complaints. But mark my words: this is going to be hijacked and blown out of proportion by the fossil fuel lobby. EV are a success and a good idea.
Anyone who buys a #Tesla is getting pretty much the best the #EV market has to offer. Or at least that was many believed for years. But now, Tesla's #reputation has not just crumbled, it has completely collapsed...
According to the latest #axios poll, no other company has fallen so low in the annual reputation-ranking - and Tesla fell in all (!) nine measured attributes, with the biggest declines in the attributes of 'character, trust, culture and ethics'...
#Tesla has covered up thousands of incidents involving its autopilot, making Toyota’s virtually non-existent sudden acceleration scandal and GM’s dangling keychain coverup look like very small tempests in very tiny teacups, and the German government now has the receipts.
"How bad is #Tesla Autopilot’s safety problem? According to thousands of alleged Tesla customers in the U.S. and around the world, pretty bad...
Tesla systematically avoids communicating with customers in writing...
Several of the U.S. safety regulator’s investigations into Tesla have been continuing for years, include a probe into an apparent tendency for Tesla cars to crash into fire trucks, ambulances and police cars parked on highways with their lights flashing..."
#Tesla Elon Musk is a fraudster, like #DeathSantis, #TFG... They're dangerous autocrats: Whistleblower Drops 100 Gigabytes Of Tesla Secrets To German News Site: The Tesla Files contain more than 2,400 self-acceleration complaints, 1,500 braking function problems, and 1,000 crashes. The leaked files show Tesla instructs employees to only communicate verbally about complaints so there’s no written documentation: https://jalopnik.com/whistleblower-drops-100-gigabytes-of-tesla-secrets-to-g-1850476542
#TeslaFiles Whistleblower leak of internal #Tesla docs about crashes & malfunctions.
It is a doozy.
#tesla policy— CYA, cust comms verbal only. No paper trail.
“The publication Handelsblatt got its hands on the data thru an unnamed informant.…The publication, however, decided THIS WAS ONE OF THE EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES when reporting on such a data breach would be legal under European Union law.”
Pub confirmed data by contacting drivers who made the reports.
So there are tons of tweets about the whistleblower who dropped 100 gigs of Tesla’s secrets right?
Like how
Tesla only covers warranty related repairs if the owner signs a NDA not to disclose defects
How Tesla beta tests on users (and gen pop) without consent
How it’s employees avoid written communication like email to avoid incrimination
…and more!
Interesting how some automotive outlets are reporting the Tesla leak as either a "huge date leak" OR "data shows big problems with Autopilot and FSD", but not both.
@CrackedWindscreen I can recall an effusive Washington Post article, some years back, that sort of celebrated the fact that #Tesla shuns experienced #automotive engineers in favor of hiring former #Apple and #Microsoft employees.
Highly talented in software and #EmbeddedSystems I am sure, but maintaining/appreciating systems safety processes for the immense complexity of an automotive lifecycle cannot be read off the back of a Cracker Jack box.
