I'm a huge fan and active advocate for @signalapp . I tell everyone to give up WhatsApp and adopt Signal. But I had to reinstall on my phone and not only did I loose all conversations on my phone: I seem locked out of my groups where nothing comes in, even for the group I admin. All is fine on my laptop and desktop, but disaster on the phone. I followed all the instructions on the support pages, to no avail. This is really unexpected and hugely disappointing. #Signal
The idea of any democratic government essentially #censoring an app or platform for political reasons is deeply worrying $ hypocritical
Yet, I strongly freel something has to be done about TikTok, and its potential as a tool in #Chinese state-led #disinformation campaigns. But there's a more fundamental problem. Why should TikTok have access to the US, Japanese & European markets when platforms like #LINE, #Spotify, #Facebook#Whatsapp & #Signal can't be used in China?
I've dipped into the #TikTok debate, with a unique proposal. No ban, instead, mandate reciprocity.
Liberal democracies should restrict TikTok and other Chinese apps like #WeChat and #Weibo from accessing their digital markets until #China allows foreign platforms like #LINE, #Spotify, #Signal, and #Facebook equal and fair access to the Chinese #digital market.

What'sApp uses the Signal Protocol to protect the contents of comms. But it doesn't protect things like your contact list, profile name, who's in a group chat, who's messaging whom, etc. Signal protects all of these. This is a very important differentiator. #whatsapp#signal#privacy

We use Telegram for our family messaging. Mainly because it works well between Android and iOS. How secure are our conversations? I've read the privacy policy some. I know Signal is more secure but is Telegram secure enough?
I prefer all the features of Telegram, plus I would need to convince my entire Family & Friends group to make the switch. Any rational, kind thoughts would be appreciated. #telegram#signal

Handy wurde geklaut. SIM gesperrt, Neues gekauft, Ersatz SIM eingelegt und aktiviert.
Signal installiert. Vom anderen die sicherheitsnummer verifiziert. Chatten geht.
Aber: man kann keine neuen Gruppen erstellen und alte Gruppen erscheinen nicht, nachdem jemand eine neue Nachricht geschrieben hat.
Auf PC hab ich die Desktop App wiedergekoppelt. Da sind noch alle Gruppe und da kommen auch neue Nachrichten rein. Auf dem Handy nicht.
Mal zur Sicherheit gefragt: Wenn ich lokal den Chatverlauf einer #Signal-Gruppe löschen will, kann ich dann einfach den Chat aus der Signal-Startseite löschen? Die Gruppe wird dadurch nicht gelöscht? Und ich bekomme dann auch trotzdem folgende Mitteilungen?
