If you want to follow the process of getting the (with softwareISP) + stack into place on - which will allow way more apps to use cameras on devices like the , (the was the first were it already kinda works) and hopefully many more devices in the future - then here's a meta issue you can subscribe to: https://gitlab.com/postmarketOS/pmaports/-/issues/2787

It's been almost 5 years but I've written a new blog post again! This time describing my setup for daily driving on after a bit more than a week of using it.

@bart I think one reason why people think the #Librem5 and #Pinephone are the best options is because there has been a lot time and effort to support them properly.

I would agree that the OG Pinephone is quite slow out of the box though. However the Pinephone Pro is pretty solid. Only thing that quite bugs me is battery life.

The Librem5 is quite impressive out of the box and pricing has been adjusted. So I wouldn't say it's too expensive for what you get.

Camera works with both by the way.

#SailfishOS on the @PINE64 #Pinephone and #pinephonepro has an updated kernel and ofono. Please should if it breaks and i can revert the change, but hopefully its better!!

Hello, community!

We need #openhardware with #bluetooth so we can link them it to #MyGNUHealth.
Currently we have @pine64eu smartwatch, but we'd love to integrate scales, glucometers, blood pressure monitors...
Just reply to this toot or send us a message if you know of any device. We'd love to test them!🤗

The shitmongers running Google and Big Tech in general are the actors directly responsible for the decline of the internet in the name of growth and profit, as well as the side effects this has had on society in general, but the root cause is that these psychopaths are rewarded handsomely by investors for their toxic behaviour.

This is why I would never work for a publicly traded company again. I did once and realised that even if I wanted to that I would eventually be laid off in a round of job cuts (again) or fired due to being unmanageable or some such thing.

@newt the irony is not lost on me. Opening this link on my #PinePhone quickly turned the poor old fondleslab into a hand warmer and drained like 10% of the battery in the time it took to read it.

Google did this. Google did all of this, and yes the linked website is complicit in it.

And if you follow the stock price of #Alphabet lately you can see investors continue to reward them more than ever.

Forgot to toot, I had tried to use #SSH #X11Forwarding to run graphic applications on my servers (#raspberrypi , and even a broken-screen #pinephone with Wayland !)

After some configuration all of them work. Yay I can now run x11 apps on headless machines.

It covers @danctnix Arch Linux ARM build script and @postmarketOS pmbootstrap

And here is a bit to read regarding a daily driven PinePhone.

eliasr, to Signal

A question to @Mer__edith and @signalapp : when will Signal Desktop be available for aarch64 (arm64) CPUs so that it becomes straightforward to install on devices such as and ?

If that is not happening, then why, what is stopping you?

The (wrong and silly) assumption that everyone must use Google/Apple phones is expected from Big Tech these days but you are supposed to be among the good guys. Please help us be free from Google/Apple 🙂

@eliasr @Mer__edith @signalapp

As you write this on Mastodon, a free and federated network: How about moving the IM ecosystem to something free and federated, too?

There are multiple options. E.g. I use by @xmpp since before Signal existed.

You still can use Signal using , an gateway by @nicoco.

You even can choose a server that is not on Jeff Bezos' Amazon AWS 🙂

by @dino runs pretty well on my , btw.

If anyone is wondering whether the ASUS #Chromebook Flip C101p is my #PinePhone Pro + Keyboard replacement: In some use cases, maybe — but it lacks 4G and, comparatively, is a freaking giant:
